sff_corgi made this for me right after Order of the Phoenix was released. It's a little bit of denial, a little bit of this and that, a little bit of roleplay. It's Jason Carter teaching an acting class, really, but he was always my idea of a right fine Sirius Black anyway.

Mister Burns! The keyword for this is excellent and that is what I think of when I see this picture, but I have to be a rebel and only use a graphical representation of the word, don't I. Also, in case anyone doesn't know, I live in the beautiful Springfield-like Pacific northwest, home of Matt Groening and The Simpsons. It's only appropriate.

Fuck's sake. Spike looks so perfectly bewildered and disgusted, doesn't he? I probably wear this expression more than any other in these two weeks leading up to the election.

Thursday night JEARS. If you don't know and don't watch Lost, well, it's on Thursday nights and Jack usually bursts into tears at least once every episode. Jack's tears=JEARS, and... this was made by the lovely
iconseeyou.

Got sushi? No? Let's go! The presentation is so pretty! And so random! And did I say pretty? I love sushi. When I broke vegetarianism for seafood, it was all sushi's fault.

Wet dog. Yeah. Some days are just kind of like that. This is from Cowboy Bebop Session 2, Stray Dog Strut, in which the man who hates kids, pets, and women with attitude ends up with a dog of his very own who, of course, allows himself to be rescued then literally bites the hand that feeds him. I'm not in a great mood, okay? It's pretty much Spike's mantra.

Pick four of my icons that make you curious, whether it's because of the content or because of the keywords, and I'll tell you about them. Then I'll pick four of yours and blah blah, icon glee, you know the drill.Of course, being the rebel I am, you should also feel free to pick four icons from any of my RP characters (the list is in my profile) and ask about those instead if that floats your boat.
ALSO, for the roleplay-minded, tell me a character you think I'd do great justice and I'll do the same for you.

As for kickass ladies...well, you know me. For some reason I find guys easier to voice like that...my girls by and large seem to be pretty feminine. Kind of the polar opposite of your bad boys. In that vein, I'd be SO interested to see what you would do with, say, Ennis or Jack Twist.

And then Ennis would tell Jack "shave that ridiculous thing off your lip or I'll tear it off myself."
I'm totally in love with that Outpost thread where Gren asked Wolfwood to give him last rites if need be and made him executor of his will. I've read that a few times since and man, that's just great. Couldn't have done it without you. ♥

Date: 2008-10-23 01:12 am (UTC)#2 is Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords. I have an abiding amused love for him.
#3, as you know, is FayeFaye from Mushroom Samba (I think). I like the angle and the way it's cropped.
#4 is Jenova, the alien entity responsible for all the Planet's woes in the Final Fantasy VII compilation. But I like the icon for a different reason, and that's purely a linguistic one. My name and hers are both derived from the same root name, so I am entirely entitled to tell my daughter that she'd better watch out because I AM JENOVA.
#5: I like Hero's no-nonsense "don't you dare fucking fuck with me" look in that one.

I have such love for LOST. These two lovelies, Kate and Sawyer, are in no way gunning for poor Dr. Jack, but I love the icon so much. The fandom is batshit crazy, polarized as hell between those who want Kate with Sawyer and those who want her with Jack. Guess which side I'm on.
cat burglar
like a thief in the night: I realized one day that with all my cats, I didn't have a single cat icon. I found this one on some British anti-crime website and snagged it.
Patsy Cline
Does she really need much introduction? I adore Patsy. Always have, probably always will. I used to think I could be her some day.
Cartman
Aw, g'wan, you live in Denver now. Evil!Cartman is my favorite thing about South Park. I went through a phase, and I pretty much adore the expression on his face here. This is the icon I use for when I want to stab things.
I actually have never seen either of those shows. Can you tell me a little bit about the two characters?

Date: 2008-10-23 04:24 am (UTC)Karen Davis is the direct superior of Charlie Crews and Dani Reese; the former is an ex-con and the latter had/has a drug problem (and is sticking to a twelve-step program fairly well). In addition, she's up in the ranks of the LAPD, and as such has to balance the shenanigans of her superiors while managing Crews and Reese and while managing public relations. While investigating certain cases. She's a tough lady who has to deal with a lot of crap, and she's very, very good at her job. ...except when the conspiracy that sent Charlie Crews to jail for twelve years comes in, but there really isn't any good way to navigate that kind of thing.
As for Seth Bullock: fictionally, he left Montana, where he was the sheriff, because he was totally sick of imposing laws where (he thinks) there shouldn't be any other than "behave yourselves". And as the Deadwood camp coalesces into an actual town attached to the United States, he unwillingly finds himself getting sucked back into the whole lawman schtick -- because there's nobody else as good for the job, and he knows it. He's completely fueled by anger, and over the course of the show he has to figure out how to live with it -- and gets considerably less selfish in the process.
They're both fascinating, weighty characters who've got a lot to do with ethics and the law, and where the two meet and diverge. At least to me (and maybe I'm crazy) that seems like one of the many things you do really well.

Date: 2008-10-23 04:16 am (UTC)And I think you'd play an excellent Jean-Luc Picard. Because I think you'd be one of the few people who could carry off his austerity and integrity without sounding pretentious.
Make it so!
Date: 2008-10-23 05:26 am (UTC)I love Jean-Luc. I was so excited when ST:TNG came out because oh my God, a Captain who acts like one! I got marginally less fond of him when I read that Patrick Stewart demanded more girl action for him, but whatever: he's still a great character. There are some episodes where Jean-Luc just breaks my heart in all the best ways. He would be a hell of a challenge.
Now, icons.
kells dog
Cymru am byth! = "Wales forever!"
An illustration from the Book of Kells. I like it for its simplicity, and sometimes I just need an icon that doesn't really mean anything but is still pretty and lyrical and graceful.
Jeff Buckley
Another Scorpio. We're the best, aren't we? Is it sad to be such a huge fan of someone who died leaving such a small musical legacy? I adored him then, I adore him now. I get sad every year on the anniversary of his death.

My very favorite of Jet Black's lines. Need I say more?
love in Tokyo
This is possibly my VERY favorite scene from Cat's Eye. Poor beleaguered detective Toshio Utsumi is having a bad day. Okay, every day is a bad day because he can't EVER catch Cat's Eye! In this episode (1x7) he has a fight with his girlfriend, Hitomi, and is so so sad all episode long. At the very end he manages to convince the owner of this building to set the lights to read "I Love Hitomi" and he calls her up and tells her to look out her window. She sees the building and smiles, and that's the end of the episode. ♥ I'm shameless, I admit it.
Hitomi's the girl in this icon. Toshio's in her lap.
Your Icons, Your Turn
Date: 2008-10-24 05:55 pm (UTC)Re: Your Icons, Your Turn
Date: 2008-10-24 07:01 pm (UTC)This is a cap from the actually not-great movie Moon Child. Without summarizing the whole story, basically the two heroes of the film are reunited only at one of the hero's death - an end he made for himself. We start to realize that Shou (the one in white), a human and a gangster, is a far bigger monster than Kei, a vampire. That monster had needed Kei as his conscience, and without him spiraled completely out of control. Kei grieves for his dear friend, whom he arrives too late to save. I use this icon to express the more helpless, angry side of grief. Its subject line is from a song by Voltaire from the perspective of a fallen angel, also mourning the loss of human life, "You're gone from here, away from here, don't leave me here, I hate it here."
A still from Tori Amos's "Spark" video. She said of the video, "I wanted to make a video where the girl has the will to live." She escapes a car crash and runs through the woods blindfolded with her hands behind her back. I use this icon very rarely, but for when I feel trapped, but I'm fighting. The title line, "We'll see how brave you are," is from her song "Yes, Anastasia."
Another still from a music video, this is Gara, the vocalist of Merry, for the "Japanese Modernist" video. I think maybe he's supposed to be a tengu? Anyway, I liked this shot. I use it for when I'm extending myself and finding my own wings, so to speak. The title "My Wings" is a Lacuna Coil song.
This is from a site full of CG eroguro fanart, and one of the icons I get asked about the most. She's strangling herself with a power cord. I could write a long time about my opinions of eroguro and the thoughts behind the pairing of erotic and grotesque, but to me it's basically about examining the intent of Japanese eroticism and pushing that exploitation to its next logical extreme.
I use this when I feel like I've "left enough rope to hang myself with" or something. Just angry but taking it out on myself, usually. The title is choke for obvious reasons.

Date: 2008-10-23 08:03 pm (UTC)I can't think of a specific character to suggest, because everyone else has suggested some awesome ones. But I'd like to see you tackle a "Jackie Chan" sort of character. It's sort of a vague, kick-ass, but sort of hilarious person. Who does not mind, apparently, breaking every bone in his body.
