Things I Learned This Week

1. I ought to stay really far away from Cheez-Its.

2. It was worth the extra pit stop for the Tsunami Stout shirt.

3. Even someone who's mostly couch potato can climb a 6-story sand dune if she puts her mind to it. Also, she can climb back down without falling on her ass.

4. It's much easier to be angry and annoyed with people when they're not around.

5. Write when the mood strikes, even if it means you leave for the beach an hour late. Odds are the beach isn't going anywhere.

6. Ain't a damn thing wrong with driving fast through the mountains singing along to Cee Lo Green at the top of your lungs with your fifteen-year-old. Try it. It's liberating.

In other news, it's time to revitalize 100wordstories. The only way to revitalize it is to start writing there again, so since I've been working a little bit furiously -- surprisingly -- on original stuff (not for any of those outstanding prompts, I'm sorry, they'll happen in their own time) I put up 100 words about one of the characters. Please please please come and write with us. No, I don't feel quite as bad as Sarah Shahi pleading with people to please please please watch her show on Thursdays, but it's close.

Also, for your RP goodness, ididwhatwithwho. I don't know when I got all reluctant about RPing, but please, someone come RP with me. Ping me. I have a whole stable of characters ready and waiting.

Yeah, even if I don't hit the hay after finishing this bowl 'o spaghetti I can't promise coherence and a deep understanding of any character, let alone my own. ;)

Also I have to say my recent descent into Catherine anticipation has tickled an old fancy of mine--wanting to play a character solely for the meta lulz. Namely, the main character Vincent (http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Vincent), who has the same Japanese voice actor as Spike.

The only issue is that this game doesn't come out here until June and also I don't understand more than maybe three words in Japanese.

I remember when my kid was scouring all the online resources there were for some Kingdom Hearts game that wasn't coming out over here, or only coming out on some platform she didn't own.

Having been through it with a few languages, I know there are no guarantees that even if I learned Japanese to be able to translate the few things I've always wanted to translate, that I would actually, you know, ever be good enough at it to do that kind of thing.

There is a complete walkthrough online that translates the dialogue into English, but it's dubbed. By one guy.

Not only DNW, but, sheesh, that game has a pretty epic cast (to say nothing of the music). Don't want to hear some random dude speaking over it.

You know I'm a huge fan of voice acting and even though there's not as much of it in the Persona series as in some others, what's there is kind of gorgeous. I'd hate to see that undone.

Not the earlier Persona games, no, but the later ones (especially Persona 4) were pretty chatty. AtlusUSA seems to be using some of the English speaking voice actors they've used before (two of the confirmed voices were also in Persona 4), so I'm curious to hear how it'll all sound in the end.

Yeah, chatty to a degree. I'm a big fan of Mr. Morooka (sp?) in P4 because he's so Kirk Thornton. I know it's impossible for them to put voice to everything, but man, I wish they had.

Well, there's either doing a thing or not doing a thing. If your brain doesn't have space for drabbles or non-plotty RP, then it doesn't and you can't force it. *shrug*

I think we do the things we love when we want to do them.
