Swag, swag, swag: my birthday is complete.

This is hands down the prettiest cel I have. It went up for sale this past Saturday morning and luckily, I was the first to ask about it, and I still had almost enough birthday money and so... yeah. For any cel purists, this one has the original sketch too, and it's unstuck, and it has the background, and I know this scene and love this scene and sure, some of this is my inner Spike at work but some of it is just me the Cowboy Bebop fan doing a little celebrating. This one goes on the wall, specially framed.

When I went to the post office this morning, I had not only Julia waiting for me but a slip saying I had some registered mail waiting for me, sent from Singapore. I said hey, that's my SPIKE cel from Ballad of Fallen Angels! I knew it was coming in from Singapore, and it was the only other thing I was waiting for, and I thought the shipping was awfully fast since it wasn't sent out until Monday. Imagine my surprise when my post office boyfriend (ha ha) handed me a rather small and heavy package that wasn't big enough to hold a cel. But there was my name right on it, and a sticker on it with a PO Box in Singapore for return mail, and my heart sank when I opened it up and there was no cel but a few books. My thoughts went something like this:

Oh, man, the seller screwed up and sent me someone else's order instead! I wonder what happened to my Spike cel? This is crazy! How could he get the orders so mixed up? What am I going to do? So as soon as I got home I fired up the computer and started heading over to ebay to set things right with the seller when I noticed a little postcard in the package; I'd missed it the first time. Lo and behold, it was from my very own [livejournal.com profile] h311ybean!!! So now imagine my thoughts: how did a card from Ara Kane get stuck in a botched ebay order?

And then I laughed and laughed as I realized what an ass I was. She sent me a pair of cookbooks and a book of fiction by Filipina author Gilda Cordero-Fernando all of which I'm really excited to read! So...

...thank you for the birthday present, [livejournal.com profile] h311ybean ♥♥♥!!! Hahahaha, I'm still laughing at myself.

P.S. I'm going to get my copy of Y: The Last Man #59 this afternoon. And in less interesting news, I'm all caught up on the first season of Heroes, for what that's worth.

Edited to add: comments now contain spoilers for YTLM #59.

I thought it was a pretty fun ride. It's a little uneven, but my sister's been trying to get me to watch it for a long while now, and I'm glad it wasn't... well... I dunno. Stupid, except in parts. Some of it seemed predictable, but that could be because we watched it all at once instead of having to wait week-to-week for it. It bogged down in spots, but the whole race to see which good guys and bad guys were actual good guys and bad guys was fun to try to outguess.

I don't know any spoilers for Season 2 and I'm not sure when I'll be able to watch it. I guess I could start recording it and catch up with it when I can. I know nbc.com has some episodes, but not from the beginning, so that doesn't help me very much. I don't want to start in the middle.
