I'm having a moment of appreciation for Spike.

(What else is new.) Changed my journal name. That's new. Maybe I'll change the layout too.

Okay. I'm going to do this meme that everyone in the world has stolen from everyone else, because I'm amused as hell at the answers I'm seeing to it.

Name a character and I'll tell you three (or more) facts about them from my own personal pseudo-canon.

You might want to make it a canon I actually know. If, however, you select a character I don't know, I'll make up facts for you. I'm really good at that.

Hannah's play was today and tonight! I did makeup! The kids were great! The makeup was great! We went out for ice cream afterward (rocky road, why do you ask?). There will be pictures, as soon as I get them. Hannah was really lovely; she's a ham onstage and a very good one. Wonder where she gets that.

Character count this week: Spike x2. Gren. Howl. Sawyer. Vicious. Willy. You guys should see the inside of my brain, or what's left of it. Good RP is the good crack.

My daughter turns 12 on Sunday.

Holy fuck.

Good RP is indeed the good crack. Yay for RP crack!

I like your new name. ;-)

And what the heck, let's pick ... Gren. :-)

1. Grencia Mars Elijah Guo Eckener was adopted as an infant. His mother was always a single parent, a painter, who infused him with a love of music and art and all things creative.

2. Gay? Bi? Straight? He's both at once and yet neither one. This space intentionally left ambiguous. Yes, he did have a huge crush on Vicious. I never said he was a good judge of character.

3. Yo, he's not embarrassed about his body. He's just very private: he's done his time as a lab rat and/or specimen and he's in no hurry to do it again.

Hannah's my favorite nearly-12-year-old.

I'll enable you. ♥ I could pick 'em all, but I'll be (relatively) good and go with Spike.

No, I'm not specifying which one.

Sure, pick the easy one. I don't want to rehash what we've already RPed. I'll see if I can keep it RP-neutral so these apply to both Milliways and Outpost Spike.

1. The very first time he took his very first kick in his very first martial arts lesson, 11-year-old Spike knew exactly how much he was going to love kung fu. Hell, ma'am, he'd been watching Bruce Lee movies since he was five years old.

2. There is no such thing as Disco!Spike. The only kind of dancing he does is the slow, slow kind.

3. He lost his virginity on his 16th birthday. He says out of all the things a guy could lose, that's one he never regretted.

Beel! Wow. I haven't played him in a long time.

1. By the time Fred and George were born, he was really sick of being the good brother. But he kept it up because it meant so much to his mum.

2. #1 is why he jumped at the chance to take the job with Gringott's.

3. Charlie's his favorite brother. He'd do anything for him.

Yo, G. Glad Hannah's play turned out well!

How about Howl? Or, less alliterative, What about Howl?

Date: 2007-05-19 06:01 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] in-the-blue.livejournal.com
1. Howl's slime is a total manifestation of his sorrow over the mistakes he's made in the past: giving away his heart, toying with so many people... only he has no idea that's the case. Like a toddler, he knows he's missing something... but he doesn't know what it is. On the other hand, he's smart enough to manipulate that sorrow.

2. The whole reason he turned into such a ladies' man (*cough*) was because he had to prove to himself that not all females were like his sister. Conversely, he never treated any of them right because so many of them were like his sister (hello, Witch of the Waste). Then Sophie came along.

3. He let Sophie into the castle because of Calcifer, but he lets her stay because he and Calcifer both hope she'll end the contract that ties them together (this is pretty much DWJ canon). But why Sophie of all people? Because he had a crush on her on May Day (go on, he has a crush on everyone, right? he says that) and hopes against hope that she's the one under the spell. He's no fool: he knows she's got a curse on her; he can smell those a mile away. He has endless fascination with her and with the way she gets things done, but the one thing he's too close to is his clothing and does not know she's sewn an attraction spell into the seams of his scarlet and gray jacket. Wow. Long-winded #3.

How's that? You got four for the price of three.

Since you did Michael, I am going to say . . . . Lettie! :D

Date: 2007-05-19 06:11 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] in-the-blue.livejournal.com
Sure, pick an easy one.

1. While it was Martha's idea to swap places, Lettie couldn't have been happier. Being the middle sister, she's all about compromise and making her other sisters happier.

2. The whole "only the youngest gets to find her fortune" thing? Lettie's never, ever believed it.

3. She's the most stable and balanced of all three sisters, and the one who learns most readily.

Hey, I figure between us we're mashing out all of our backstorycanon. *giggles* It's good for us!

Yorick Brown!

Date: 2007-05-19 06:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] in-the-blue.livejournal.com
1. Yorick is three years younger than Hero.

2. The only reason he volunteered to take on a helper monkey was to impress Beth1; he's never felt like he measured up to her in any way, shape, or form.

3. He felt almost as guilty about his tryst with Beth2 as he did about killing that girl in Arizona, if not even guiltier. The whole blonde-haired Beth-named similarities weren't lost on him at all: he's nowhere near as stupid and unaware as he likes to make people think.

Let's go with...hm. You pick. Albert Rosenfield or Harry S. Truman.

Date: 2007-05-19 09:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] in-the-blue.livejournal.com
Boy, it's been a long time since I've watched Twin Peaks. Let's go for it, though:

1. Albert Rosenfield is the Angriest. Man. Ever.

2. He's been ready to retire since the day he started, but he can't quite bring himself to do it. His work is entirely his subpurpose.

3. He definitely deserved the punch.

4. His first word when he was an infant has remained his favorite word his whole life: NO.

There. How'd I do?

I adore Albert, even if he's ever so good at being a jerk. :D

Heh, we've discussed him a little, but it should be fun to see facts about... Ein.

[goes looking hopefully for drama club pix]

No pix yet. They'll get their own entry.

Ein:

1. He knew Spike was a sucker for animals right from the start, no matter what the guy said or says. That's why he threw in with him instead of Abdul Hakeem.

2. Even though he appreciates Jet, he loves Ed the most.

3. If he could bring himself to bite any Bebop crew member out of sheer anger at them, it would be Faye. That bite he gave Spike? Love nip. That was his way of saying thanks for rescuing him.

Well, Faye withheld food. That's major.

Of course it was a 'love nip', he didn't even leave a dent. ^_^ Spike was just being whiny.

Apropos of nothing, saw a TV ad for the Pirates 3 video game. OMG, the animation is amazing! I don't think they were just showing cut scenes, either.
