It's the case of the Haunted Halloween Computer, chapter two.
Again last night, the computer decided not to turn on and now I have it figured out: it's only when it's powered down and off that there's a problem. A big problem. It... doesn't want to turn back on, not for love nor money. Once it runs it runs fine; there's no problem with it doing a soft restart. Just in getting it going on a cold reboot. So... the in-home repair guys will be here this afternoon between 3:30 and 4:30 to give it a once-over and see what's going on with it. A short in a cable or something? I don't know. It's beyond my PC repair skills to do this one, even though we looked at the online manual. But troubleshooting usually goes: what error messages do you get when you try to boot? instead of holy fuck, it won't even turn on?
Time for the geeks with equipment.
In other less geeky news, I'm solo parenting for the next 4 days. Yeah, baby! Maybe the fridge will break again in the meantime! That'd be... par for the course. It's raining. It feels like winter in Oregon. Friday was 76 degrees and sunny. Tomorrow's supposed to have a high temp in the 50s. WELCOME TO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST TEMPERATE RAIN FOREST! Don't let the mold cling on your way out! Like Dumbledore, what I most yearn for is a warm pair of socks. Fortunately for me, they're just upstairs.
Okay. That's better. I have much appreciation for
shellebelle93 and
sff_corgi (the "S" girls) for all their help yesterday with stuff, and they know what it is. I know I'm guilty of having a lot of information inside my head and this helped me get it all out in public and I think it will make things better. One thing I'm through doing, there or anywhere, is teaching new players how to roleplay. Remember back when we had the d-Mentors program? I wonder if we don't need something like that again... except I don't want it to be me. I don't want this to be the place where people come to be taught how to roleplay. But I should have these ruminations in private. Except... my journal, deal with it? Right.
Now. Three hours later, it's time to eat. I must go shopping. And soon, before those guys get here for the computer, I think, because stores will be closed after. We'll see! We're out of supplies! And I have to update the FAQ for
outpost_12 before I forget. Clearly, it's mod weekend.
