[livejournal.com profile] silveraspen, as I was driving home from ye olde post office today (my one errand), I saw a construction truck with a logo you'd like: ASPENx2. If I'd thought about it, I'd have taken a picture. But I didn't.

Today was an absolutely insane day for the first week of summer vacation. Last night being Sunday (yup yup, it's true), I figured I could stay up as late as I wanted, so [livejournal.com profile] lostinapapercup and I were up late writing together. Till about 2:30 my time, later for her and by the time I was washed and dried and polished it was about 3, too late for me, and I had trouble falling asleep. Well, the International Man of Mystery's alarm clock went off around 7 or 7:15 accompanied by much noise (allergy season, after all). I finally fell back to sleep, but my cell phone rang at around 8:40 with the "unknown caller" ringtone. Normally I would have ignored it, but we're having some construction done on the building where I work and my number was left as the contact person while the owner is out of town, so... I had to get up, go downstairs, and listen to the message on my cell. Of course, it wasn't anything to do with that.

Note that tonight, it's not yet midnight, but I have the ringer turned off, dammit. I like to learn my lessons the hard way. The tough part will be remembering to turn it back on tomorrow. It's summer. I'm not working. I want things easy, but most of all, I want them my way.

In other fun but true news, let's see: the Quill was kind of crazy today. Yeah, I love being on staff there. I really do. Even on days when I say the whole HP fandom can take a flying you-know-what off a rolling donut (don't you love Kurt Vonnegut? and I only substitute words because this is a public post), I love my fellow staff members there. Kudos to all y'all.

My just-barely-11-year-old daughter came downstairs tonight to proudly announce that she loves roleplaying. Apparently, she and some of her friends do some limited chat-RP and she's just enamored by it. Think she takes after me? Hmm.

What else? My cat-sitter called today to warn me she'd seen a coyote about 50' from my house as she drove by. The first thing I did was check on my cats Hector and Jack, who are indoor/outdoor kitties (the only ones). I started thinking when I was chatting with her that I hadn't seen Hector for a few hours. When I opened the door he and Jack both were sitting on the front step, eating cat food, looking at me with this what do YOU want? expressions on their little feline faces. Also, mama cat Klondike's incision from her spaying is healing up nicely, and all the kittens are getting big and bold and brave. They were up here for hours tonight, until she called them to go downstairs with her for the night. Which reminds me: do you want more kitten pictures or does nothing interest you less than that? I'm an equal opportunity spammer.

Good luck to all of you with exams this week. It sounds wrong for me to be enjoying my first week of summer in such a well-rested *cough* manner while you have to pore over books... but it isn't. I did my time in school, and then I did it again. Life's a bitch, isn't it?

I think Hannah's sitter starts this week. I guess I should call and find out. Or... [livejournal.com profile] blanket_cape, if you're reading this... let me know. It doesn't need to be early on Wednesday. Promise.

And... [livejournal.com profile] sff_corgi: hugs from you know who.

Hee! Lots to reply to!

A big fat WORD to that. And that includes you. I've been so grateful to have the Quill, and I'm so glad the betas and ghosties are able to hang out now, because now I know and love even more neat Quill staff members.

Do I want petspam? Is Sirius sexy? Of course!

Yes, yes it is.

One down, two to go. :-) Thanks for the good wishes.

Yours,

JK

Now I'm laughing (still) and also very curious as to why the truck had that logo in the first place!

As for the rest, I always like hearing the Tales of the Cats, and pictures can be a lovely part of that.

Kudos to Hannah. She sounds like a great kid.
