Tougher Than Tough

in_the_blueTougher Than Tough is the single best compilation of Jamaican music. Mango Records put it out in 1993 - it's a 4-CD set that covers everything from Ska and Rock Steady to Reggae and Dub and Dancehall and Ragga. It's awesome. I got it when it first came out (which shows you only part of how long I've been a Jamaican music fan, because I'm probably older than you think) and I still love it.

medeni_ci_jones took my alter ego to Jamaica, I might as well get in the mood myself as best as possible. I'm listening to disc 3 right now, which is probably my favorite of all... but I'm not sure. I like all of them.
And I did my level best to write a decent island travelogue that wasn't R-rated. Heh.
In other news... it's almost the weekend. I want to go to Salvador Molly's this weekend. I'm going to make Hannah try some Carib food. I also promised that if the weather was decent, I'd take her to the zoo. I have clients each day, but I think we can fit in a zoo trip. She goes for the animal fries at the Africafe.
I used to volunteer there, but the adults who visited irritated me so much that I thought perhaps a ritual sacrifice of the biggest idiot adult each day at noon to the Kodiak bear might be a good idea. I knew then I didn't have the temperament to work there all that long. I used to teach classes for parents and their wee ones, which was fun, and do talks in my favorite two areas: the Arctic tundra and the Cascade exhibit, which has since gone away. It's supposed to reopen one of these years.
The picture of Sirius in Azkaban from The Leaky Cauldron makes me so sad. It's the chains in the background that do it. Hannah said this morning: 'I don't know, Mom, I think that guy will make a good Sirius.' I hope she's right.
