*crash*

This is the sound of me with nothing to do.

Well, of course that's not true, there's plenty to do. It's just that I choose not to do it. I'm still on break from Dogstar and I was planning on getting back to it today but I'm really not in the mood. And nothing says I have to, not even my conscience, so I won't. Although for all the professed love and adoration of the board and people who can't live without it, no one's doing shit while I'm away.

Hypocrites.

So, I'm spending time on LJ instead.

Waves go to [livejournal.com profile] author_by_night for pinging me this morning; that's a busy time for me. Sorry we couldn't chat, but I'll catch you up later. I'm often invisible so try your luck and if I'm there, I'll respond.

Hugs go to [livejournal.com profile] lostinapapercup for her sense of humor and her general attitude toward most things.

Cheers go to [livejournal.com profile] sff_corgi for writing again! You GO, woman!

Thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] shellebelle93 for the Sunday Summary.

CONGRATULATIONS go to [livejournal.com profile] heidi8 on The Leaky Cauldron winning JKR's fan site award! Way to go, Leaky! This calls for hugs and butterbeer all around.

Dumbstruck appreciation to my cat Hector for escaping from the confines of the house last night but coming back inside all on his own. If you do that every time, boy, you can go out more.

I promised some talk on Bill/Fleur before I went into hiding. I'm back. Here, have a handful of thoughts.

When I first read Order of the Phoenix and saw that little throwaway line about Bill and Fleur dating, I believe that quite honestly my reaction was something along the lines of you go for it, big guy, so cool. But I never thought a lot about it in too much depth before I started RPing Bill at [livejournal.com profile] milliways_bar and had to think about it. Then, for April Fool's Day at the Sugar Quill I wrote a piece of a chapter -- farcical in nature, but still fun -- about Bill and Fleur and the entire Weasley clan in Diagon Alley picking out the happy couple's wedding band. That kind of taught me a few things about Bill I wasn't aware of! (Just the opening post in this chapter is mine.)

I don't know how many of you RP or write this way, but I'm all about character and characterization, so I like to let the people I'm writing tell me what they're all about. For plot purposes at [livejournal.com profile] milliways_bar Bill and Fleur had broken up (I inherited Bill this way from his original player, who wanted to make him gay, but that's a whole other story for another time and place). What was immediately obvious to me the moment I stepped into his shoes and started playing was that Bill was still in love with Fleur. He wouldn't admit it, not even to himself, but he was. It took me a couple months before I even had Bill go talk to Fleur there, and then they had an oh-so-polite ex-lovers conversation without hurt and without recrimination. It was almost closure -- ALMOST.

Then another month or so went by where they had nothing to do with one another. And suddenly one night they were talking and... bam! as Emeril says, kick it up a notch. That was it. They more or less fell into each others' arms, knowing that it made no sense but unable to stop themselves. It was a complete surprise to me; it was a complete surprise to Fleur's player too.

So here's what I have to figure out: I know Bill is in love with Fleur. He's very much in love with her.

But why?

Theories? I have a few but I'd like to hear yours too.

Milliways Links if you want to see how I play Bill:

A couple days later

Ignore the typos; it's RP and it moves fast. Comments, anyone? I'm obviously only responsible for the Bill parts.

Aw. Heh, I do so appreciate you.

I had a really interesting afternoon at work. I think you kind of would've gotten a kick out of some of the people I talked to today.

But I'm exhausted now and about to head off to bed (with the book!). I'll manage to get in a Beth post or two tomorrow. And I hope the play was lovely, of course.

The play was amazing coming from a group of kids in 3rd through 6th grade. It was a lot of fun, and everyone went out for ice cream afterwards.

Mint chocolate chip, if you must know. Because it was right there.

I'll write all about the whole play experience tomorrow when I'm not so tired and when I'm done with work. Glad you made it there safely. I want to hear about the people you talked to at work, too. Most of the people I meet at work are too recumbent to talk much.

3, 2, 1, let's jam. I ordered music tonight.

Excellent! Can't wait to read all about it.

And there're few better reasons for having mint chocolate chip ice cream. Heh.

I won't take up space commenting in your journal about all the crazy people I talked to yesterday, but I will mention the kid who came in and did magic tricks for me. The Beth part of the brain enjoyed that.

And what did you order?

OST1 and 2, a replacement copy of Vitaminless, and Blue for a gift for someone.

Are we surprised?
