It's the most wonderful time of the year
Sep. 5th, 2010 04:47 pmThat's right, it's Labor Day weekend, and Kumoricon is in town without Kirk Thornton as in years past, oh no. It's been a number of years since I actually attended, but we were downtown and drove by to look at the attendees and give our humble opinions on how well their costumes were done from the sanctity of our car. Overall I can't say I was actually impressed, but we did see Ezio Auditore and his distant ancestor Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad from the Assassin's Creed games strolling down the street side-by-side. The sight warmed the cockles of my heart, wherever those are (we didn't learn the term in Anatomy & Physiology classes).
Other decent costumes seen from the front seat of my car (no camera, alas) were Link and Zelda, Inuyasha (I was so tempted to roll down the window and shout "KAGOME!"), and the guy with the Starbucks cup in his hand dressed as a Portlander. Oh, wait. He wasn't there for the convention...
Personally, I feel like I'm too old to cosplay. But if I found the right character and costume I'd do it in a heartbeat. Halloween was always my favorite day of the year, so... Miria in my icon is my current top pick for a cosplay costume. Now to get a blonde wig and steal the habit off the back of an unsuspecting Sister: I'll be good to go.
