Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mme_publisher, I have been tagged.

Is that like graffiti? Or like being a part of a herd of cattle? Or simply proof that I'm actually looking at my friends list?

Heh. Anyhow, it's the music meme, so I'll comply because... I can.

1. Total number of records I own on CD (or vinyl or cassette):

No. Fucking. Idea. Hundreds and hundreds. And then there's all that ambient music I play for my massage clients, but we'll say that doesn't count. (sporks Dean Evenson CDs because I know them all by heart because everyone loves him and Enya and no one wants a massage to Watching the Detectives except me)

2. Total volume of music files on my computer:

I'm a slacker. I don't listen to music on my computer. I have about 40 songs there, but I never even turn on the speakers. Unless it's the Zaphod for President video.

3. The last record I bought:

So pathetic, isn't it? Vitaminless, for the second time since I already lost it once. The Seatbelts.

4. The last record listened to / song playing now:

Pretenders, I Remember You.

5. Five records that I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me (either singles or albums):

The Clash, London Calling
Hank Williams, 40 Greatest Hits
Tougher than Tough: the History of Jamaican Music
Annie Lennox, Bare
Cowboy Bebop: Blue, OST. Yoko Kanno & others.

6. Tag five people to do this meme...

Exactly a month ago, I posted my first writing challenge for all of you in my LJ. Afterwards, I took a poll and most people voted for me to run them monthly and in my LJ, as opposed to on some other time frame and in a new challenge community.

So. Monthly it is; in my LJ it is. Last month we focused on the sense of taste and I know there are still four more senses to go, but why be stuck in a rut?

Here's this month's loosely-defined DRABBLE challenge and the guidelines.

Rules (Once again, Captain Barbossa reminds me they're more like guidelines):
  • Fandom: any, so long as it's one you know well.

  • Word count: 300 or less

  • Main theme: Magic. Whatever that means to you or your character! Don't feel constrained by whether or not your character wields a wand, all right? And no comments necessary on the obvious double-entendre there.

  • Ratings: No restrictions.

  • Duration: 1 week. Challenge opens today and closes Tuesday, May 24.

Post your drabbles as comments to this entry. And yes, you can comment on other peoples' work. Feedback is always nice.

Ready, steady, go.

...my internet access appears to be fixed.

I wipe my brow in relief. I didn't really think that just plain clouds could be enough to knock out the signal for 3 days. No sir. No ma'am. No sirs and ma'ams. So after about 3 hours on the phone this morning (isn't remote diagnosis a gem? now if only we could eliminate those long hours on hold...), we have it resolved.

I'm so thrilled.

Apparently there was a problem with the physical satellite itself. The transponder we were using was exceedingly useless, so I had to be recommissioned to a different transponder. Don't ask; I know more about Direcway setup than I ever wanted. I feel so very accomplished.

cut for Cowboy Bebop fans )

All right. I'll post this now. Forgetting to do that is usually a common cause for LJ entries not showing up. [glares at self]

Hey, I'm nothing if not accommodating. I've been tagged again, this time by [livejournal.com profile] liebchen127. I feel so popular all of a sudden.

1. Total number of books I've owned: Captain, I kenna count the number! I keep buying more and more! And getting them as gifts! It has to be in the very high hundreds, if not a thousand. [Captain: counting books is... illogical.]

2. The last book I bought: Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe (for Hannah).

3. The last book I read: Re-read, to be precise, before the movie, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams again). We go in waves at my house. But the last book I started and haven't yet finished is Clouds of Witness, Dorothy L. Sayers.

4. Five books that mean a lot to me:

Selected Poems and Two Plays, William Butler Yeats
The Captain's Verses, Pablo Neruda
Water Dancer, Jenifer Levin (my sister's first book)
Love Medicine, Louise Erdrich
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, JK Rowling (I waffle between this and Order of the Phoenix as being the more meaningful, but POA is certainly more enjoyable)

5. Tag five people and have them fill this out in their LJs...

The key meme, because [livejournal.com profile] mme_publisher and [livejournal.com profile] jaylake did it and baaaaaaaaaaaa and I have to say I love this result very, very much:

key lime pie
You're key lime pie. You don't unlock anything
really, but you taste good and make people
happy. You may have trouble paying attention to
anything for long periods of time, though.

What sort of key are you and what do you unlock?
