Honeeee I'm Home
Oct. 13th, 2003 07:49 pmShort version tonight, longer version as time permits.
Took planes, trains, and automobiles to get to Victoria, which is such a beautiful city. Stayed at a most gorgeous hotel, which was hosting the Royal Victoria Marathon on Sunday. People kept asking if it was my first marathon. [Standard Answer: I have hip displaysia; no matter how much I love running, it does not love me, so I don't run marathons. I don't run. Period. I tried to fight it and lost; I always pay with days of pain afterward. It's just not worth it, no matter how good the running shoes.]
I did not tell the runners I'm a massage therapist! no no no, I was on VACATION.
We did lots of kid-friendly stuff (Royal BC Museum, Undersea Gardens, OmniMax Theatre, Miniature World, harbour cruise... other stuff I can't remember all of now). Played in the hotel pool and hot tub. Are you a runner? You sure look like one!
I would like to go back, maybe just with my sweetheart, because there was so much more to do that Hannah wasn't interested in. I'd have done one of the little Zodiac boats for a whale-watch in a red hot second, but she didn't want to. Got to ogle the Canadian print versions of all the Harry Potter books (weight limit for the seaplane prohibited buying them all, damn it!).
All in all, it's an absolutely lovely city and I would love to go back. Very dog-friendly; I met a goodly number of beautiful pooches.
More later. Ah, Ron just got his howler from Molly. Time to go cover my ears.
