Summer came back with a vengeance today and with it came all the boxelder beetles. I can no longer use my screen porch because there are hundreds of thousands of them out there.

With the nice weather came:
  • road repair

  • street painting

  • stupid drivers

  • police in full force
I drove behind a repair truck that did its level best to run over the brand-new yellow stripes in the middle of the road wherever possible, mucking up the lines and spraying yellow out behind its mud flaps (diolch yn fawr, y cachwr!) so I had to stay way back and irritate all the other drivers also in a hurry because I'm not a Hufflepuff and didn't want my black car decorated with yellow (sorry, [livejournal.com profile] hex316). It took me forever to get to work.

But the good news is that the client, who came in on a gift certificate, proved to be very nice and has already booked an appointment again for next month. Did I ever tell you that my greatest pleasure in massage is working with repeat clients? It's so much more fun than being in a walk-ins-only environment where you see people once and that's that. My regular clients are what keep me in the profession. Because I've got that darned Gemini ascendant and my attention span wavers. If something isn't absolutely captivating for me, I get bored really easily. ([livejournal.com profile] sff_corgi, you should be really proud of yourself and Medeni...)

And the other good news is that I took my two eldest kitties to the vet for their annual exams, and thank heavens they're both in excellent shape. No more sick and dying kitties for a while. Jasmine's a little heavy and Fudge needs her teeth cleaned, but nothing dire or urgent. And, the vet says that Jasmine was diagnosed incorrectly with asthma and he thinks (like I always maintained) that she just has allergies. Here's to understanding the need for people to label illnesses, but also to taking a good look at it and seeing the less explicable things for what they probably really are. I've seen cats having asthma attacks and Jasmine has never, ever had that happen. So I'm content with the new explanation.

I get to sleep in tomorrow. The damn phone better not ring early.
