Since no one asked, here's a music post. I put iTunes on shuffle and will share the first ten songs on my playlist, courtesy of Youtube.
1. All The Way From Memphis - Mott the Hoople. I have unabashed love for this song. It's about trying to locate a missing guitar while the band is on tour... and a few other things.
2. Love in the Shadows - The Magnetic Fields. Like a lot of Magnetic Fields songs, it's weird and moody, what else can I say.
3. Rain - The Seatbelts. I have a lot of Cowboy Bebop music on iTunes. All of it, in fact. There are two versions of this song, one sung by Steve Conte, and this one featuring the wonderful Mai Yamane. It's from Session 5, Ballad of Fallen Angels.
4. Devil In Her Heart - The Beatles. This is from the stereo remastered version of With The Beatles. Give me a Beatles song and I'm good. This song is such a great example of early Lennon/McCartney collaboration, and in the remastered version you can really hear George's guitar shine.
5. Isis - Bob Dylan. Desire is still my favorite Dylan album, it's songs-as-stories at its very best. Here, have some lyrics.
6. KC Blues - Charlie Parker. I like this one. It's up-tempo but moody, blues but not depressing. Plus it's filled with kick-ass musicians: Miles Davis on trumpet, Max Roach on drums, Teddy Kotick on bass, and Walter Bishop on piano.
7. Fantino - Sebastian Tellier. This is from the soundtrack to Lost in Translation. The music is as important to the film as the plot and characters and dialog. In fact, for me, it's a whole other layer of characterization.
8. Brown Skin Shuffle - Big Bill Broonzy. A fair amount of blues here today! If you're not familiar with Big Bill, here's the Wikipedia article on him.
9. I'm Only Sleeping - The Beatles. Clearly a John Lennon song, this features a guitar duet George Harrison reversed for the track, so it would sound more dreamy. It's from Revolver.
10. Sleep Walk - Santo & Johnny. Viva steel guitar! What a great last song on a playlist. Is there anyone who doesn't know this song? I see all one of you.
