...yeah. Because I want to see what some of you say, so I stole this RP meme from everybody and their alter-egos.

When we role play, we tend to pick up a variety of characters. They could be ones that we like, ones that we want to experiment with, or ones that we just end up making from scratch. Eventually, we come to associate with ( some of ) them in one way or another. Out of all the characters ( past or present ) I role play, pick out the one I am most like and tell me why you think so.

I didn't think anyone was going to say Hero (but I'm glad you did). She's my least-played (but not least-explored) character at Milliways. I wish I was as witty as she is, canonically. If I'd actually been the one to come up with that whole "isn't that like being the leggiest guy in the Rockettes?" line, I'd still be congratulating myself every time I looked in the mirror.

Because! There is the competence and the take-no-nonsense attitude and the way you do what needs doing and do it, but there is also the dazzle and flair and style. In your case it is to do with writing rather than snazzy love-charmed suits (though it might be the suits too! I have not seen any to tell) but it is definitely there.

That's awfully sweet of you. It's been hard not playing Sirius any more, but I think it was time.

Howl is... well, fluffier. If you know what I mean... but he has that undertone of competence. I love that in him in canon, how he seems so surfacey but really isn't. He's such a good challenge to play. It would be easy to make him into a buffoon, but he's not; he's inevitably more competent than anyone else gives him credit for being and I like that about him. He does remind me of Sirius in a lot of ways, come to think of it.

Uh...

Just jerkin' your chain. I've never seen your Sirius but I'm willing to bet he was fabulous and that you resonated with him on a pretty good level, but if someone had a gun to my head and asked me I'd have to say Spike. Just like Spike you've got this--and other people are saying this, up above--no-nonsense way of dealing with bullshit and the like, but also like Spike you can be a soft touch. In a good way.

Also, you kick ass just like him.

Heh. The first time I ever saw Bebop, it took me about two minutes to know which character I was most like. Of course, that was just one episode and I hadn't met all the characters yet, but still. My opinion doesn't waver on that one too much. I do know one thing: I'm more like Spike at the end of the series than at the beginning.

I'll be curious to know if you still feel that way after you play with (and get to know) some of my other RP characters a little bit better.

See, I don't see Howl a lot at all. I certainly don't have his flair for whining pathetically and I'm nowhere near as dramatic as he is about all things relating to himself. Sure, there are some things I think we have in common, like doing a lot of stuff behind the scenes, but I like to think I'm a little more straightforward and a lot less duplicitous than he is.

Okay, I'd say it's a toss-up t'ween Sirius and Spike, and here's why: they are both loveable but it's not out there for the world to see. You have to get to know them (and you) better, they let people in but only so far, but once they do let people....they're there. And just like Spike and Sirius, you will move heaven and earth to help a friend/loved one in need.

That's just my two knuts, hon, for whatever they are worth.
