Of all the Spike joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.

Which movie was this quote from?

My hair is now as short as Annie's hair in this icon. It's not as blonde and my eyes still aren't blue, but otherwise I look just like her. Why, yes, I am a diva, why do you ask?

Random stuff: give my kittens a roll of paper towels and they'll occupy themselves for hours.

Our tree is still sadly underdecorated. I couldn't do it this year. It looks like some crappy thing out of the Simpsons. Speaking of Homer, we saw the trailer for the Simpsons movie when we went to see Night at the Museum and I haven't laughed so hard in a long, long time. I can't wait.

I got the last of the Christmas presents I'd ordered for Hannah in the mail today. Explain to me why anything that was shipped from downtown Portland on December 12 would take so long to get here? I didn't think so. I'm only 18 miles from the downtown Powell's store. What'd my book do: crawl to my house? Shit.

Belated happy birthday wishes to [livejournal.com profile] siriusstar and [livejournal.com profile] indy_go (one more time, Meg, because birthdays are worth stretching waaaaaay out!).

The movie Stop Making Sense is great.

Most of what's on TV sucks.

I didn't send any holiday cards or gifts this year. Couldn't do it. Before surgery I had way too many things I was trying to finish up, just in case something went wrong and I wasn't able to do it. And then afterward, I didn't have the focus or the energy.

Tomorrow (or, really, later on today) we're going to the Portland Art Museum to see the Egypt exhibit. That should be fun. I was wondering why I was so tired this evening, and then I realized that it was because I'd been away from home from 11 this morning till 5 this afternoon. Now, that might not sound like a lot, but it was the most I've done in a day since before surgery, and it just serves to remind me that I'm still recovering and no matter how fine I feel, I'm not there yet. So this thing tomorrow will be a test of sorts for me. It's going to be a long day and a lot of time on my feet, so hopefully I'll be able to last through the whole thing. But when I crash these days, I crash hard and when it's time to go it'll be time to go. We're supposed to have an early dinner with my mother-in-law after the exhibit. I hope it doesn't turn into another six-hour day... but I think it can't possibly be that way. Not with a senior with arthritis and an eleven-year-old in the party. Wish me luck.

You know, I think it would have got there quicker if it did crawl!

Also, hurrah for haircut!

I was figuring that I could've walked downtown and back three times or more in the amount of time it took that book to get here. Even in my *cough* weakened post-surgical state.

Haircut pix in the next entry.

Hee - I was cleaning the living room a couple of days ago and I found a six-foot length of toilet paper behind a chair. Call me crazy, but I suspect the kitten. :)

I hope the exhibit is fun!

The exhibit was great! It's mostly stuff that's never been outside Egypt before and some of it was just fantastic. So I'm glad I had a chance to go, even though it was a very spendy entry fee. If I thought I'd go to the museum more I'd get myself a membership and then these things would be more affordable. Part of me hates that art appreciation has to be so expensive, but I understand the costs associated with bringing something like this on tour. The insurance on the items alone must be phenomenal.
