Only... so not really. I took my kitty, Tribble, to the vet yesterday for... oh, we'll just call it general gastrointestinal nastiness, to save you the explanation. She's one of my seniors, and at 14 she's earned the right to be a little bit cranky. But she was so good. $200 later, we have antibiotics, new food, and bloodwork to analyze but she already seems a lot happier. I think she's had a low-level GI thing going on for a while. Keep your collective fingers crossed it's not a thyroid issue. Older cats are susceptible to that.

If it's Sunday, doesn't that mean I get to be random? Sure it does. Here goes, with a bunch of ifs:

  • If you like scifi, we're now officially open. Check it out just for the setting, even if you don't want to play.

  • If you're curious about one prolific writer's writing process, you should read [livejournal.com profile] jaylake's journal.

  • If you're wondering what's going on with the Sugar Quill, don't ask me. I have no idea. I'm just a lowly staff member.

  • If you have any Halloween costuming hints on making a better member of Organization XIII, drop me a line. I sense the fabric store in my very near future.

  • If you have good thoughts to spare, send them to a few people on my friends list who need them: [livejournal.com profile] wickedtrue, [livejournal.com profile] villainny, [livejournal.com profile] heather916 come to mind. I know there are more of you but if I list everyone, I'll have to list you all. ♥

  • If you can believe it, I might actually draw today instead of write. Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] lostinapapercup, for putting that thought in my mind.

There, enough random. Except, you know, I'm sure there will be more. Food calls. It calls me personally, so I'm off to pay it heed.

*passes laundry basket off to clone*

My parents had a big (wicker, I think?) laundry basket when I was little, and I was really tiny -- probably 3 -- but I vividly remember the joy I got out of diving in while it was full of clothes.

I think I enjoyed jumping into a pile of freshly-washed clothes even more than piles of crunchy fall leaves. I only have laundry bags now, but one day...

Heh, my mom still has a big wicker laundry basket.

My kittens love sleeping in fresh laundry. Now I have to add a big wicker laundry basket to my must-have list, because every home needs one of those. I'll get you one, too, to go with your icee and english muffin I'm about to send.

It's nice because it has a built-in icon maker. Really, it's just fun to play with and you can't do anything very fancy. But for the basics, it's great, as long as you can ignore the popups on the site.

Hee. I wish I had mad iconing skills.

Don't know exactly what you'd like, but I might be able to help you out. Plus I think I might actually have a few Trigun icon posts I've run across still bookmarked. I'll take a look and give you the links if I do.

And, of course, if you find yourself with the irresistible urge to do 'em yourself, I know a few good image sources.

I'm all about making icons, and Gwynne gave me a good source, because I am lamentably bad at finding image sources. But hell, I'll take all the help I can get, so if you've still got image sites or icon posts bookmarked? I'd owe you somethin' big.

Sunday randomness is most excellent.
And, seriously, what IS up with the Quill? Bummer.

Thank you for the thoughts and thoughts referral. :) Each day gets a little easier, and memories of little Tigger now bring more happiness with them than sadness. Most of the time.

And I shall keep my fingers crossed and shall send good thoughts for your elder statesman kitty.

Hope you enjoyed your food! I'm being called by my dinner even as I type.

Imagine, if you will, the look on my face as I stared at the description for five minutes straight after reading it and started trying to talk myself out of applying for any of several science fiction characters.

Would that I had more time. And even knowing my limitations in time, I'm still intrigued.

All I know about the Quill is this: when a site's down more than it's up, it's either time to pack it in or to move it. :\

I hope the server issues get resolved like... yesterday.

The character I have in mind is *so awesome* (I love him more and more every episode). I have only 4 more discs to go, which Netflix will graciously supply to me. Then I'll actually... know all of his canon. Heh Heh Heh....

Dropping back by an old post and old comment with a not-entirely-theoretical question that may well be related to this topic:

Are you by any chance familiar with eluki bes shahar's writings, and more specifically with the Butterfly and Hellflower trilogy?

(Obviously, I'm still keeping an eye on the Outpost, and thinking things over.)

From: [identity profile] in-the-blue.livejournal.com
I'm not familiar with them, but don't let that be a determining factor in the least. :)

Heh.

Reason I ask is that the protagonist and point-of-view character in those books is one Butterfly St. Cyr, captain-owner of a ship called Firecat, stardancer/smuggler, and partnered by Paladin, who happens to be a piece of Old Federation Technology called a Library, which is an AI in the short version of things.

Why there is no excerpt from the first book I don't know, but here's excerpts from the start of the second and third books in the trilogy. It gives an idea of background and storyarc and most importantly the writing style that I'd be imitating, only set just pre-canon, when Butterfly and Paladin are partners against the rest of the big bad 'verse and just honest stardancers looking to do a bit of bidness in the darktrade...

... I should just give up and write the app already, hm?

Heh! You should do whatever you want. That looks like a fascinating style to emulate. It should be a great challenge. But what I always say is be sure to play the characters you love, right? You know that.
