Yesterday, being a day off and all that kind of stuff, we watched a documentary from 1977 called Roots Rock Reggae: Inside the Jamaican Music Scene (you can find out about it here if you're so inclined). I ordered it a while ago, before Las Vegas, but we hadn't taken the time to sit down and watch it, what with whirlwind vacation and my International Man of Mystery's travel schedule and all that. So we finally did and boy, am I glad I got it. It's not just like snippets of Bob Marley, you know? Interviews with Jimmy Cliff and Joe Higgs. Early early footage of Toots and the Maytals. A good look inside Scratch's Black Ark studio, watching him mix the Upsetters and Junior Murvin & the Heptones. I swear. Junior Murvin has one of the most amazing voices in recording history. Jacob Miller & Inner Circle writing songs together as they go. All against the backdrop of Kingston in 1977 in general and Trenchtown in particular. With the amount of ganja and the size of the spliffs they were smoking, who needs weed in real life? You can get stoned just watching these guys smoke.

In the meantime, Klondike is in heat again and her yowling is driving me crazy. She's getting spayed on Wednesday. Kitty, I feel bad but you showing me your fuzzy backside isn't going to help: there's nothing I can do for you. Really. And I can't imagine anyone having an unspayed cat. I just can't imagine it. QUIET!

Hopefully, I won't be in your situation - my vet's booked until mid-July and the girls are going to be almost 9 months old then.... Ma's already been yelling things about them getting raped and having litters of mutts. :headdesk:
