...but I don't want to.

It's a day off. Holiday, right? For being lazy? I'll tell you about my day.

Went to bed at 2:30 last morning because I knew I could sleep late.

Woke up at 8:30 because the cat puked by my pillow. Attention [livejournal.com profile] jaylake: you are not the only one. Got up, cleaned cat puke, got dressed, hobbled downstairs, fixed a Spike post for Beth, things like that. Wandered around my house, and then, surprise of surprises, Hannah was awake. So we hung out and she read a lot, then I made her a pair of fried egg sandwiches (she was hungry), and then I watched some anime, and chatted, and it's been lazy in between doing laundry.

Laundry's always an adventure. I do so much of it all the time. And now, at 3 in the afternoon, I'm sitting here going... hmm, I should plan for what we need to take to Breitenbush Hot Springs. I guess I always have Wednesday for that... seeing as how there's class on Thursday and we leave Friday. Every term, we take the Massage Fundamentals class there for a weekend so that the students can give massages to guests and residents at Breitenbush. It's a good first experience massaging strangers, and sometimes I'm even lucky and get a massage. Most of the time, though, I live to soak in the hot tubs. I like the Medicine Wheel tubs: they're graduated in heat, from neutral to warm to warmer to hot, and there's also a cold plunge pool. All within walking distance. The Meadow pools are gorgeous, but when there's snow on the ground (and I'm betting there will be next weekend, it's been so cold here) getting there can be perilous.

There's no electricity except that generated by the Breitenbush River, and there's no cell phone, land line, or computer access. So I won't be seeing you most of the weekend.

Well. Whatever, right? The local legend has it that the place is haunted by water sprites who follow unsuspecting travelers late at night. I've never seen one, but the place is certainly... well, let me put it this way: it's real mystic and all.

Now it's just a question of which brains I should take along for the ride. And that's not as mystic as it seems for those of you who know me.

Breitenbush: don't bother to bring your swimsuit.

Sorry about the cat puke... :D

Here, have a lovely hairball. *gack*

The funny thing is this: Hannah, being 10, prefers it if we wear our suits in the hot tubs there even if no one else does ("Mom, Dad, you're out in public!"). And in the strangest nod to being accommodatingly politically correct, I think there's going to be a several-hour time block where suits will be required at the Medicine Wheel tubs there. I guess some of our students, who will have to get used to naked bodies, just aren't ready for the full-on nude-in-the-tubs experience yet. Personally I think that's a load of rubbish: if you don't want to soak with naked people, go somewhere else. But I don't run the joint, and I don't want to.

I always both look forward to and dread the "awayness" of the place. I can't begin to count how many times I've been there with a massage class now. This weekend is my payment for helping teach the 10-week class, so I'm planning on enjoying it a lot.

Hannah even says she'll eat the food there this time. Which is good, because I'm not planning on bringing extras for her except maybe peanut butter and bread for sandwiches, and some cheese. Have you taken your child up there yet? I can see her racing around like a small maniac between tubs.

Look at how beautiful you are, you!!!

I'll be around and looking for you. If not, well, whatever plotty plotlines you think of if you're in that potter chat this weekend are good by me. You have my permission to sign me up for anything at all, so long as it's in-character for Beel.

I miss you! I can't wait till July.
