Writing Challenge day.
Those of you who said don't do it in July because of HBP can, as always, feel free to take a pass. But as promised, here is this month's writing challenge and guidelines. Come and play if you want! (Yn Cymraeg: der i chwarae!)

- Fandom: any, so long as it's one you know well. Yes, HP HBP fics allowed!
- Word count: 300 or less
- Main theme: Family
- Ratings: No restrictions.
- Duration: Challenge opens today and closes at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 24. Just one week.

Date: 2005-07-25 02:33 am (UTC)It was her first night out in the wilderness after she’d run away, and this was all she could think of. It was a loneliness she couldn’t shake. She should be exhausted, yet she lay awake, looking up at the stars in the cold night sky.
Blanche felt as if she were about fifty years old, and she wrapped her arms around her skinny legs and hugged herself as tightly as she could. She’d never felt so alone and afraid in her life, but she mustn’t cry, and she mustn’t be weak. She would never survive otherwise.
She had no family, and for the first time in her life, she was completely on her own. She wanted to cry.
But she couldn’t. There was no time for tears.
She clenched her jaw, and reached for her bag, digging through it until she could find her map. She had a small flashlight, that she clenched in her teeth as she rolled the map out.
