Survived the camping trip with 31 3rd- and 4th-graders.

GO ME!

To get back into the swing of things, a meme I stole from [livejournal.com profile] mme_publisher.
I am the Nile!
Which Extremity of the World Are You?
From the towering colossi at Rum and Monkey.

It also says:
YOU ARE THE NILE

At 4145 miles from your furthest extremity to the Mediterranean Sea, you outdo the Amazon to become the world's longest river. The piranhas hate you.

Beneath you lies an underground river with six times your volume. You kept this remarkably quiet for several thousand years. In fact, you're full of mystery; your source wasn't discovered until 1862. You're also full of water. And crocodiles. And nuclear pharaoh machines that run on light and can see through time.

(Considering I now RP Bill and he has such grand ties to Egypt, I find this incredibly amusing.)

So. The camping trip. It was good. There were no horrible happenings. The worst was a skinned knee and palm and one bee sting. It was a little bit unorganized for the little kids (I think the outdoor school staff are used to working with 6th graders, not those of the 3&4 variety): for instance, on the last day they ran out of things for the kids to do by 10am, and the bus wasn't coming till 1:30. I only had to comfort two crying girls and get sassed by a couple of 10-year-old boys. But everyone seemed to have a good time, and Hannah had a much better time of it this year than last year. Even though the last activity was a very bad one (a kind of obstacle course designed to show exactly how few salmon ever made it all the way past predators and evil things to spawn again), they had fun in general.

Now, back to real life: ready for the random stuff? Okay.

  • Umm... my stray cat who disappeared a week ago showed up again at the front door just now. Phew.

  • After the camping trip and staying up too late last night, I slept till noon today. Can't remember the last time I did that.

  • One of last year's raccoon kits is back and demanding food all the time. Can we say "pregnant raccoon?"

  • Ezboard still hasn't restored my RP board. Woe is me. Thankfully, we have a community on LJ also. Now if people would just use it...

  • I made Spike take a trip with his girlfriend... to Venus. I love writing scifi. It also means I get to watch Session 8 again, one of my favorites.

  • Giant hugs and tons of love to [livejournal.com profile] sff_corgi, who is a very amazing woman.

  • And finally... Happy birthday, Draco. What a surprise this day is.

Er?
