I know, I know, I still owe stories but this is more important.

I would do one of those little things where I make something out of each letter of your name (you know, P is for Partner-in-crime, A is for all my anime love is because of you, I is for intelligent, G is for great to parse characters with, E is for excited it's your birthday) but, you know, I'm too mature for that kind of thing. So instead, I'll just be all adult and wish you a fantastic year, and that all your happy wishes come true, and no matter how hard I try to write it the best (and only) part of Mugen vs. the Smoke Monster is this:

The body flew in such a high arc and for such a distance that the only thing the survivors of Flight 815 could think was that the jungle had finally ejected another one of its mysteries. Mimicking the sound of an incoming artillery shell, all eyes turned to watch as the scraggly man landed with a splash too far out to sea.

Deep in the jungle's interior near the entrance to an ancient and long-forgotten temple, the smoke monster gagged a little. That one was disgusting, it thought just before it retreated back into the clean safety of the ground. It didn't have a single redeeming factor.

Somewhere, out in the ocean, an entirely unrepentant Mugen smiled his feral smile and worked his way back up to the surface.
