I don't FEEL like it.
Oct. 7th, 2007 03:43 pmOff to Day Two of the great house cleanup. I'm glad we only have to replace the carpeting every fifteen or sixteen years or so. Did i mention that we picked the new color because it most closely matched the cats' dry food?
We took the morning off to watch the Patriots, because the game was actually on, and now we're watching the Red Sox. It's a curious thing, team loyalty. I've lived on the west coast for sixteen years, but ask me just how much I care about the Seahawks or Mariners, my closest pro teams. Or even the Portland Trailblazers. Mmm... no. I've been to precious few Blazers games when they weren't playing the Celtics, and I've only been to a Mariners game if they were playing the Red Sox. The last football game I went to was back at the old Foxboro Stadium, way back in time in the wayback machine.
I remember watching Bird-McHale-Parrish at the old Boston Garden. That was such a treat. I was such a good fan and so loud that I couldn't talk for two days after the game. It was fantastic. For a while I was at Boston Garden twice a day, because the train back to Gloucester left from North Station there. But I rarely went inside for games, and we tired commuters could always tell when there was a Celtics or Bruins game because of the change in traffic patterns around the Garden. Now that venue's gone and I don't know what the new one looks like.
But I would plan any summer trip to Boston around the Red Sox home schedule in the future.
sotto_voice, they call it "Red Sox Fever" for a very good reason.
...and I totally forgot I was posting this, so now the Sox have swept the Angels. go, Cleveland. Sweep the Yankees now.
