Must Be Spring
Mar. 5th, 2006 04:06 pmMy yard is full of hummingbirds and Cedar Waxwings.
And stray cats, but that's nothing new. The other stuff though? Both types of birds have been around for weeks, and they're about a month ahead of schedule. I can't remember ever filling my hummingbird feeder before the middle of March.
In other news, I've decided I have to rename Hector. His new name is Mugen (at least as far as I'm concerned). Yeah, he's just that crazy.
Who else feels like the best thing about the Olympics was Google's home page?
Last night, Hannah asked me if she could read The Hobbit. After my tirade about how inappropriate that story was for kids because it was even more anti-Christian and even less conservative and appropriate than Harry Potter, I burned all her books.
Oh, wait! That's the alternate!evil!family! No, I was incredibly delighted. I didn't read The Hobbit until I was in junior high, so I'm glad she's starting in 5th grade. She's been glued to it since she started late yesterday afternoon. And she's so glad that after this, there are more books in the series. She's about halfway done already. I need to interrupt her so she can do her homework. Woe is us.
Also, we all ate at Taco Bell today. Isn't that just... either the saddest or most fun thing you can imagine? But I was Starbucks-free, so I feel vindicated in a ridiculous sort of way.
And one other random bit of Sundayness: I'm actively denying housecleaning at the moment. I did a lot yesterday, and today my hip (which for those of you who don't know and care has always been bad since I was born but it's never stopped me from doing a damn thing) is telling me to take it easy, so I am. My chiropractor told me I'd probably have to have it replaced eventually. I said screw that and went running anyhow.
Then I paid for it for a couple weeks. So I don't run any more except on the occasional treadmill. Or in my brain. But clearly, I'm not doing it today. No, today was for hauling around 30# bags of cat food in one hand and 3 bags of groceries and a litter box in the other. I'm just that good.
