Don't Wanna
Aug. 2nd, 2005 07:39 pmModerately cranky, but not enough to really let loose with it, and I'm not sure why. So I'm here instead, and I am almost cackling over something I saw online but not quite.
First things first: in entirely mundane news (hello,
milliways_bar), we took the hour-long drive up to the showroom for the people making our new kitchen cabinets and picked out everything.
Everything.
I am now the proud owner of a block of beech-wood, which is taking up real estate in my backpack-aka-purse which is otherwise known as THE BLACK HOLE OF DOOM because everything ends up there and never finds its way out until a wormhole comes by. We decided to go with beech in natural because it's so pretty.
Look at my icon. Do I look like a traditional homemaker to you? If you say yes then I bark to differ.
Next: I defeated my first Pokemon gym leader in Ruby today. For someone who only plays about five minutes a day, I'm way too proud of myself. I have a badge! Go me.
I got to start (just barely) reading my Bruce Lee book. Hey,
wickedtrue, what I said about him the other night is still true, except only more. So much love and admiration to him behind the veil.
People are finally playing again on Dogstar, which is a very good thing. In a way it was like starting the board from scratch, except there were such expectations. I rewrote the FAQ to include stuff on participation and part-time characters and pets and things like that. I want it tighter and I want people playing to play. I've gotten used to a faster-paced method of play, I guess, and also to a huge degree of character development taking place within posts.
Some of my LJ paid accounts expire within 2 weeks. Why have they not notified me yet?
At any rate, I'm going to be Spike for a while. He makes me feel better. As does tonight's Bebop session on CN: it's Toys in the Attic, one I love.
Here's Bruce Lee for you:
Some martial arts are very popular, real crowd pleasers, because they look good, have smooth techniques. But beware. They are like a wine that has been watered. A diluted wine is not a real wine, not a good wine, hardly the genuine article.
Some martial arts don't look so good, but you know that they have a kick, a tang, a genuine taste. They are like olives. The taste may be strong and bitter-sweet. The flavor lasts. You cultivate a taste for them. No one ever developed a taste for diluted wine.
And in a semi-related note, and because I haven't done this in a long time, today's Zen card:
Problem Solving:
The way to remove darkness from a room is simply to turn on a light. In the same way, to rid yourself of any difficulty, concentrate on the solution rather than the problem.
There. I feel better. Do you?
