Vacation Prep
Nov. 20th, 2003 07:30 pmIt's hard to believe that in a mere two days I'll be getting up way before the crack of dawn to get to the airport and go through the security hassle and get on a plane headed east. The older I get, the less I look forward to this disruption.
Okay, so I do it for my parents. They're in their 80s, and Thanksgiving has always been my mom's very favorite holiday. I do it for her. But as Hannah gets more and more involved in school, we start to miss more critical things by pulling her out for five or six days so we can make this trek.
So maybe this is the last Thanksgiving we do this long long long trip. Maybe next year we convince everyone to come out here. That would be nice. It would take a lot of stress off my parents.
But this year we go, and we see my parents' new home, and we stay and play and do whatever we can. And of course, give thanks for it all.
And try to squeeze out a little alone time to be online. Hell, I'm sure there's a Kinkos near them if nothing else.
