Hannah decided it was time to learn to ride her bike without training wheels. We have to pack things up and go to a park for this; there are no sidewalks in our neighborhood and no flat surfaces at home on which to practice. That's the down side of living on the side of a mountain, I suppose. So we took her to the park and we held onto her bike and didn't let go, and she was a little bit panicked but she did a great job anyhow. I know she'll be game to try it again.

Nothin' but praise from this proud mama.

Stocked up on groceries and later, I'm going to watch a couple episodes of Twin Peaks that I found in my "old things I videotaped a long time ago" drawer. If I'm going to do Dale, I'm going to do him right.

Moshi moshi! The down side to having a cell phone and giving out that number to my clients and prospective clients is that they often call at the least convenient times. For instance. one person called today while I was standing in line to buy Hannah a new bike helmet. Uh, can I call you back? (she had a blocked caller ID, so I couldn't tell who was on the phone. I thought maybe it was my friend Holly, who I intended to call later anyway and really did, because she's the only person I know who uses call blocking or whatever it is.)

Back to beta reading.

She is so cute. I just kept telling her what a great job she was doing. She said "I'm not ready for this!" I said, "I know! But one day you will be, and then you'll be so glad you practiced with such diligence."

She felt a lot better about the fact that fears are, in fact, okay. We have them for a reason, and every single thing we do that's new requires a leap of faith.

But you know this!
