I dislike myself intently when I use my journal for griping, but I allow it every once in a while. I mean, it is my space to say what I want.

But I get annoyed with myself when I let other things irritate me and then vent this way. Once in a while. Once in a while. I should take off the comment feature when I do that.

I had a very lovely chat with [livejournal.com profile] perceval this morning. Hugs, Maria. I suppose I should be motivated to go do other things, but I'm not. I have one chapter to beta-read and today's the day for that. My wonderful daughter is watching Fairly Odd Parents and eating french fries. She's getting big! *beam*

I have far too many books on my bookshelf and I haven't been motivated to read any of them. I have Michael Moore and Charles deLint and Gavin Menzies and Irvine Welsh and Madeline L'Engle, all just waiting. When I go to the east coast in another week and a half, I'm bringing at least two of them with me on the plane. And I never did finish listening to the audio version of Ill Met by Moonlight but that's pure sybaritic pleasure because it's read by Jason Carter, who has to have one of the most delicious voices in the known universe. Apologies to the author, but I could care less about the story: it's ponderous and filled with too much detail. But the delivery is very delicious.

Fangirlish, I know. But even we Narcissa-aged women get to have our moments. [Reels in the lifeline thrown to her by [livejournal.com profile] sff_corgi every day]

Almost time for Starbucks. Iced Tea du Jour, although my latest summertime drink is club soda with far too much lime. Unsweetened. Shaken, not stirred. I wish young Sean Connery as James Bond would deliver them to me!

My daughter prefers Stephen Fry's reading, but I like Jim Dale. To me, it seems like Jim Dale is acting out the characters and Stephen Fry is reading the books.

And also, I got a phone call from Jim Dale reminding me I'd pre-ordered Order of the Phoenix last year. Even though it was a recording, it was still cool.
