Raccoons were probably the bowl thieves. They are notorious kleptos, having been known to steal books left outside among other things. Raccoons are smart, that is why there are so many of them!
And hummingbirds! Squee! I need to put up a hummer feeder. My mom has one and the chickadees like it more than the hummers do. Her chickadees (these are chestnut-backed) are addicted to the sugar-water fix.
