Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] chrysantza!

Sorry, Ara, I've done all those you had before. But not this one. I don't think the outcome was ever even a question, though...

1971-1978: Yours is the Marauders era. You like a
little bit of mystery and your ideals are
friendship with humour. You're intrigued to
find out how Sirius, James and Peter became
Animagi, and how Remus coped with being a
werewolf at school. Of course you like Harry
and the gang, but Harry wouldn't be who he is
without his parents, would he?

Which Harry Potter era are you?

By the way... Van Helsing. Run, don't walk. I mean... run in the opposite direction. But if you do go, bring a barf bag. It's one of the most laughably bad movies I've seen... review to follow eventually.

Lordy, that bad? MST-able? Mebbe I'll wait for it to come on cable. Hmmmm...wonder what they're saying on Rottentomatoes.com....

Esgusodwch fi for jumping in. Mr Diggory and I went to sinema together and saw this film and... I'd say we did as good an impression of masters Crow and Servo as anyone might. I will review... once I've stopped laughing to the point of tears.

It's good; I needed a laugh.

"I don't like being the most wanted man in Europe so why doesn't the Order do something about that."

:P It's still funny!

Van Helsing

I actually enjoyed it. I wasn't in awe or anything, but it's the first real "monster movie" I've seen, so I had fun watching werewolves and vampires and Frankenstein's monster cavort across the screen. I would have made Frankenstein's monster more curmudgeonly, though -- he was funny.

We-ell, see... I didn't think it was funny enough to be camp, and it wasn't serious enough to be scary. And the characters weren't interesting enough to like, and the clothes were too ridiculous to be time-accurate. And poor David Wenham didn't get to be KEWL like he did in LOTR, and Hugh didn't get to be quite as KEWL as Indiana Jones. And the monster was far too eloquent to have been sewn together while still doing a really good Peter-Boyle-in-Young-Frankenstein imitation, and the CGI was choppy and way too obvious, and Drac had a 90s hair clip, and... and...

I'm kind of a cinematic snob. We have to go through it again, maybe when it's out on DVD, with a fine-tooth comb. There were way too many Dogstar-specific references in there; who's been reading my RPB (http://p206.ezboard.com/bdogstaracademy)?

But I've read both good and bad reviews. Personally I don't recommend that people spend a lot of money on it, but hey. Maybe if you had a few beers first...
