I must confess that I am unfamiliar with the canon, but I love this scene. It has the feeling of both a chance meeting and a fateful moment, and I love that. Like in_the_blue said, it's understated, and there's so much going on beneath the surface that you can tell the depth of the characters even without knowing them. I love the recurring image and symbolism of the map!
