Yeah, I actually decided to start this before all those 30 days of HP memes started flying around, and I have to say I'm not really paying attention to those in much detail. Mostly that's because just about everyone I know is doing it, and it loses its impact seeing it everywhere.
I did meet an awful lot of people through that fandom, though, and for that I'm incredibly grateful.
Now, couldn't you say that all fanfiction is a bit like "we don't want this thing to end so we stretch it up a little more?" I do. In rereading my stuff on the Quill, some of it I think is great and some is kind of terrible, but all of it is borne of a desire to keep the flame burning beyond where it went out.
