So ends another episode of wasting time with Faye.

It's 101 degrees out, and still 3 more hours till the hottest part of the day. Yeah, baby. I feel so smart having already bought & installed the air conditioner. I can't believe we sweated through this last year... especially after the heat fried my laptop and the cable box. But hey, HI GLOBAL WARMING! This is supposed to be the temperate pacific rainforest, not the desert. I was just there with temps like this.

Ahem. End of weather report. In the meantime, those of you who know me know that I don't spend a lot of time with Harry Potter fanfiction these days. However, I would like to take a moment to pimp an absolutely lovely work in progress by [livejournal.com profile] h311ybean, for whom I have the absolute fortune to be a beta reader. I give you Molly Weasley and the Heart of the Wayward Wizard: go have fun with something that brings the early delightful quality back to HP fanfiction.

Yo Outposties: [livejournal.com profile] lostinapapercup's internet connection is down. We can still work on the sub-threads, of course, as we like, and then once she's back we'll continue with the main action. Man, that got messy and it got messy fast. To answer one question I got: no, none of it was plotted out in advance. I don't roleplay that way; I can't tell my characters what to do. They only react to other people. Kind of like the way things happen in real life. But it was my fault I was up till 2 last night working on this: I couldn't put it down. Even writing Vicious and Gren, I didn't know from one post to the next what was going to happen. I was just kind of on the edge of my seat. I guess I'm just a big fan of our board, and that's a really good thing.

Um... oh yeah! For all the Dell-bashing I see, I thought I'd post a good Dell story for once. It's a minor thing, but I lost one of the screws that holds my hard drive in. I went to my local Fry's, figuring they have everything, but they didn't have anything like the teensy tiny screw I needed, so I got online with Dell via their hardware support chat feature. The guy I talked to was sweet, effiicient, helped me troubleshoot exactly which type of screw I needed, and had it sent to me... along with a few spares. This all happened yesterday evening. Today, when I got back from my first massage at noon, the envelope containing the parts had already been delivered. Talk about fast: I'm absolutely delighted to be able to tell a good customer support story for once.

I'm going to suck it up and take Hannah to see OOTP on Thursday. Wish me luck, fellow Gryffindors. I'm not a big fan of that book. I'll be curious to see what's going on with the movie, but it'll probably still piss me off.

That's it for now. Except where's my little internet brother, [livejournal.com profile] dopplegl? I'm hoping all's going well today. Let me know?

today is kinda shit. Well, it was decent until about 30 minutes ago. I had/have a headache (an unfortunately common occurance these days) and I took a small dose of oxyfast because that is the only thing that seems to be working these days and got nauseous as fuck. I think it was because I took it on a semi empty stomach. Mum was sweet and made me a PB&J sandwich to hold me over until we have actual dinner.

Speaking of dinner, we're ordering take out to celebrate my test results. All the scan showed were very small abnormalities in my medasteinum which my doctor said might not even be cancer. So now after this round of chemo I will have one more round and be done with that. I will be having radiation therapy after the chemo as a further preventative measure. I'm so fucking relieved. The bad news is that it will still be like 3 more months before I get my goddamn hair to start growing like normal. Though I'm not looking forward to having to shave again. That was nice.

I have three competing characters in my head for O12 and I'm trying to suss them out. It's quite a pain, let me tell you. Heh.

I still also love Owen. We both miss your TV.

Oh. My. Sweet. Effin'. Jesus. I am so damn happy for you. Your news made me cry, and you know that's no mean feat!

Aww. You have no idea how much your kind words and support have helped me get through all of this. I'm so glad I got to come and see you, big sis (and I really do feel like you're family). *hugs*

*snuggles*

I'm glad it wasn't quite this HOT while you were here, though.

You're now having the weather I escaped from last week. Good luck to you, my dear. Stay hydrated.

Caleb, that is wonderful news. Oh, I'm so happy for you, even if you have the radiation yet to deal with. YAY.

Heh! Just to make one thing perfectly clear, I never expect anyone who's not playing to read a single word of RP that I write.

But I do love Ara's fic. It's a beauty in a world filled with OOC AU crap of all kinds. If you get a chance, that's cool. If you don't, that's cool.
