Blink, Yawn, Tap Foot Impatiently

Not motivated to spend another whole day and night on the computer setting things up, but you can get a preview of some of it if you look at [livejournal.com profile] sff_corgi's stuff, she's the Graphics Goddess. Almost there, almost there... I just have to write up the background and get the damn plotline settled and we'll be good to go.

We got our first applicant who just surfed in. Hmm... wait till I force the application form on him.

Application for Admission

Greetings, and thank you for applying to (Name of site withheld until it's official). We are a serious and active Harry Potter Role Play Group and only admit students who can demonstrate their eagerness and willingness, their thoughtfulness, their imagination, their writing and acting skills, and who can commit to regular attendance and participation.

The Academy ('Academi Seren-Ci' yn Cymraeg; see 'Translations' on the board) opens in August 2003, or whenever the Headmaster says so. Our school is currently under construction. Until opening day, all membership applications will be put into the 'pending' pile for review.

[For the purposes of this notice, the initials 'OOC' stand for 'Out-of-Character' and the initials 'IC' stand for (naturally) 'In-Character.' On our board we request that you remain IC as much as possible.]

~^*v*^~ o-w-l - p-o-s-t ~^*v*^~

Before we accept new students or staff members, there is an admissions process that must be completed. We require that you answer the following questions:

1. (OOC) What is your level of interest in the Harry Potter universe? Have you read all five books, and the extras (Quidditch Through the Ages, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them)? Would you consider yourself to have rudimentary, basic, advanced, or absurdly detailed knowledge of this universe? In other words, gauge your obsession level. Grin.

2. (OOC) What is your experience with online role-play groups?

3. (IC) Describe your character as fully as possible. Include the following details: age, gender, background, experience, education. What are you looking to get out of attending or teaching here? What skills do you bring to our table? Are you prepared to fight against Dark witches and wizards, no matter what guise they take, no matter the personal cost? Do you plan on studying (all approved applicants whose characters are ages 13 and up may be students) or would you prefer to teach? If you want to study, which subjects most interest you? If you want to teach, what would you teach and why? (If we are interested in you as a teacher, you will be contacted further.)

4. (IC) What rumours have you heard about Headmaster Black, and which ones do you believe?

5. (IC) What plans do you have to use defensive knowledge after your education is complete? What type of job do you see yourself taking--assuming that there is gainful employment left for wizards and witches after this war is over? If not a job per se, what specific role do you see yourself taking in this Brave New World?

6. (IC) All new members are required to provide their biography (or curriculum vitae, as the case may be). It must be included with this application; if you are accepted, you will be asked to post it. Mine is available for reading, if you would like to see the level of information we look for.

Send your application to me here via board mail ('owl post'), or by regular electronic mail (see my address below).

I thank you for your time and interest. I will be in touch with you regarding your application and its acceptance or rejection. All decisions by the judges are final; we have standards to uphold. Our admissions committee members sincerely hope you meet them... because they don't want me making all the decisions, now do they.

Best wishes,

Sirius Black, Founder and Headmaster

That's about it. It's hot here. Mid-summer weather in mid-summer; what's this beautiful corner of the country coming to? I'll be visiting with Captains Sparrow and Barbossa again tomorrow. One fine way to escape the heat! Anyone want to join us?

YEAH BUDDY! Jack Sparrow! "Captain Jack Sparrow..." I wanna come! I wanna come! And Legolas makes swords?! Casanova Frankenstein as Captain Barbosa.

And G? Seeing this movie really makes me want to go to Disneyland again! They did SUCH a great job with it!

Captain Jack: Real Men Wear Eyeliner.

Hannah wants to go to Disneyland again, too. Maybe we will, end of August.

The show tomorrow is at 11:05. If you start driving now, Sunny, you can still make it on time. Your room is all cleaned up and waiting for you.

And as a bonus afterward, we could watch Stray Dog Strut. What do you say - tempted?

Erm...

OK, Hex is now a global user on EZBoard. He didn't encounter that questionnaire you posted above, tho. He just clicked the button to apply for membership and got a message that the request has been sent.

Ah, well, you know him anyways, right? :-p

Hex is a member because, fierce loyal opinionated passionate Scorpio that I am, I let him join without having to apply. He's studied with my Sirius already, oi! he doesn't need to reapply.

I have That Level of Power. It's a beautiful thing.

However, if you'd like to fill out the application...

Hee. No, thank you :D

*sigh* I feel so left out... Captain Sparrows? *lost*

I wuv the application! It's great and will tell us a lot about a character. Hmmm... I wonder how many Mary Sues we'll recieve...

*laughs* SORRY! I'm obsessed with the Mary Sue fandom! I just don't see the joy of a perfect character! I don't! And I just love to get a laugh when I read one... Hehehehe... "All the guys turned their head as she walked by..." *giggles* Don't you just love it?

[identity profile] in-the-blue.livejournal.com 2003-07-20 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
You have seen my niece Mary Sue lately, haven't you, after she got her 43 Outstanding NEWTs? As I gazed through the window of my humble office I thought for a moment she'd stumbled onto the ground outside by the lake and sullied her perfectly soft and white hands, but, miraculously, she only tilted forward enough for the giant squid to appear and prop her back up--without getting any squid-slime on her, of course--since Squid, too, is in love with her.

And on a completely unrelated note...
Captain Jack Sparrow. Pirates of the Caribbean. Johnny Depp. Should I elaborate?

[identity profile] sonja-kaye.livejournal.com 2003-07-20 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
No, no. No need to elaborate. Everyone I've talked to has seen that movie and has mentioned him to me. I really need to see that movie. I feel so left out. *sigh* Lets see... I have two pennies all ready... how much more do I need to go... *sweatdrop*

[identity profile] sff-corgi.livejournal.com 2003-07-20 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't feel too bad. I haven't had a chance to see it either, but at least I got to see Matrix before it vanished off to expanded-edition DVD.

Wanna see League of Extraordinary Gentlemen too even if they HAVE totally wrecked the story and character interactions. It has hot opticals and Sean. Reasons enough.

And about the graphics. I'm glad they worked out so well.

3 Cheers for Corgi

The graphics absolutely, positively, RULE.

I bow down before you, transform with a into a shaggy black dog, and roll over. How's that? Heh.
