Sorry, Ma, I got all distracted.
Jun. 12th, 2005 11:46 pmI meant to do this journal entry HOURS ago.
But I got distracted. Not terminally distracted, but distracted enough.
Mitch is in Chicago again, so today, naturally, Hannah and I got to play. I took her to the mall. I got myself a comes-in-girls-sizes-only Spike T-shirt at Hot Topic because hey, I'm skinny, I can wear girl's sizes. I also wanted to stop by Suncoast to see if they had any Hitchhiker's Guide yarn dolls left, but... the Suncoast store was gone. Disappeared. Nowhere to be found. So... no to that. Then Hannah used most of the rest of her birthday money on the Pokemon Fire Red edition for Game Boy Advance... after I'd ordered her the Eye Toy from Amazon (thank you, Edie and David!). Then my little lady and I went and had a slice of pizza together and headed home, and tomorrow is our 2nd movie date in 3 days with
mme_publisher and her son: that's right, this time it's off to Madagascar. Oh, I can't wait.
My last conference with Hannah's (retiring) teacher is Tuesday. I'll be very interested to hear what she has to say. This has been a horrible year for communications and followup. I think she knew this was her last year a long time ago, and that's been a part of things. See, my daughter longs for structure and competence at school. I'm convinced of that. She's already excited about next year, where the teacher is more strict and the tasks better-defined. It will be something to watch.
Meanwhile, in the past week or so I've done some of my best writing for RP ever with
lostinapapercup. It's been so creative, I'm having more than my share of fun with it. And today I got the rest of what I have for my Sirius 7th year fic up on Godric's Hat. There's more written, but it's not a full chapter yet. I don't know if I'll ever go back and fill in the pieces on it, but I might. It's been a longstanding effort.
I love Sirius.
And Spike.
