Mount St. Helens
Jan. 3rd, 2005 03:56 pmAs I was driving Hannah to school this morning (at way too early an hour for someone who was up till 2:30), we noticed that Mount St. Helens was putting on a bit of an amazing display. Maybe it's because it was the first really clear day we've had, or else it was because it's the first clear day we've had where I saw activity, but it was pretty awe-inspiring. We always see the mountain with its trademark flat top (because the rest of it blew off and trickled down the north face last time it erupted), but today there was an incredibly majestic plume of steam rising straight up from it waaaaaaaaay into the air.
Mount St. Helens is about a hundred miles from us, give or take thirty or so. It's amazing to be able to see it.
