This will be my last cat update until I get pictures taken. But brother, does Cap'n Jack look supremely satisfied and Sphinx-like in his chair on top of the cat blanket.
I did speak to the ex-owner yesterday and she was very nice but we have different views on pets. She really literally did not care a whit if he came back again. I didn't tell her he has his claws and I didn't tell her he's an excellent hunter (Jack 5, moles, mice, and snakes 0). She told me they'd gotten him free from the shelter and had him in their 'viewing room' for three weeks so he could get used to the place, and the last time she saw him 2 weeks ago he was headed this way and she didn't really think about him after that.
Sounds like he made the right choice coming here. He's now got a collar and a tag that Hannah picked out for him, and he didn't even flinch when we put the collar on, so I know he was used to wearing one. Wonder what his life was like before he ended up at the Humane Society shelter?
So I am very satisfied to report that one more gorgeous feline has a very good home now. Vivat felis felis.
Party preparations are well underway! Hannah and I did the portrait of The Fat Lady last night; I just have to do the frame so we can hang it. I got the Potions Lab/Butterbeer Factory ingredients today and all the Honeydukes sweets have arrived. Professor Trelawney's Divination Room will look... divine, of course; the third-floor corridor will be out-of-bounds, and if the weather permits we'll do the baby Welsh Green piñata outdoors. If not, we'll open it on the screen porch. I just have to clean the house, put up the decorations, order the cake, get the piñata fillers, finish making the treat bags, put up the scroll/announcement board, and... we're good to go. Last night Mitch said to me, 'I'm glad you're on top of this birthday and party stuff.' Well... yeah.
Tomorrow is Hannah's birthday. She's so excited!
Tonight we go see Shrek 2. I got smart (finally) and took the Prisoner of Azkaban tickets out of my backpack and put them away. It would be a Very Bad Thing(TM) to lose them.
