Has Anyone Lost A Kitty?
May. 7th, 2004 10:10 amYesterday morning, an incredibly handsome all-grey male cat with brilliant green eyes ran out from under the shrubs (yes, we have shrubs, they're actually Fragrant Viburnum or Viburnum Davidii if you really want to know) and started meowing to beat the band. He smothered himself rubbing all over my hand, wanting nothing but petting.
I could swear he was a Transfigured wizard, but hey, that's another universe.
When I got back from the vet with Stones (who, I'm happy to report, is finally over his ear infection, has regained at least half the weight he lost, and looks 'perfect' according to Dr Christine, who is the best vet in the universe), Grey Kitty was still hanging around. When I unlocked my front door, he strode in like he owned the place.
His front claws are trimmed nice and short -- I can tell they were clipped fairly recently -- and he looks sleek and handsome and healthy.
He was around all evening, and he was around all night.
He was there this morning when Mitch was on his 6AM conference call.
He was still here when I got back from taking Hannah to school.
He leaps into your lap if you make it available.
I've called all the vets in the area to find out if anyone's reported a missing kitty, but so far no one has. He's so sweet! Right now he's asleep on a pillow on the couch. He's staying away from the other cats, which is good, because I have no idea of his health status. He's not going away.
Hannah and I named him Cap'n Jack this morning. Uh-oh. Now he has a name; that means he's ours. I'll have to take him to the vet and make sure he doesn't have one of the squicky easily transmissible diseases. And get his vaccinations in order... if he's still hanging around our yard next week, that is. I want to give him time to find his way home, should he deign to do that.
