My sweetheart left this morning for a week away (it's going to be cold in Chicago; glad I didn't have to go!), so Hannah and I drove him to the airport. On the way back we stopped at OMSI (that's Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) to see their exhibit, 'T. Rex on Trial.' It was very cool if you like dinosaurs and/or paleontology. One of the things Hannah has in her arsenal for future employ is paleontology, so it was right up her alley. The exhibit was actually very nicely done; all manner of scientific evidence is presented and you make the decision for yourself whether Tyrannosaurus Rex was a predator or was, in fact, a scavenger. (Plus, you get to decide on a host of other dinos too, including Miss Hannah's very favorite Deinonychus.)

Then I took her to the cafe for a bite to eat, and we went and played with the rest of the exhibits. I tell you, they do a great job there. She made a water rocket that soared up probably 40' into the sky, and we made a fancy paper airplane called a Phoenix Lock and she tried it out. Nice glider. We shopped for trinkets at the science store, learned all about how human ears hear sound, what happens when alcohol enters your blood stream, and went to the earthquake room. It's supposed to simulate a 5.3 quake, but it was kind of broken and felt more like a 3.0 or so...

And now we're home, and it's just us girls until Friday night. Should be fun! I said, Hannah, what do you want to do when Dad's out of town? She looked up at me with a perfectly contented smile and said the one-word answer: play.
