George! George! George!
Jul. 30th, 2003 02:39 pmIt's not that I'm a huge George Clooney fan, but Hannah and I were listening to the O Brother! soundtrack in the car and it made me think of my couple of select favorite George Clooney moments. In a special about the making of The Perfect Storm, Mark Wahlberg said something to the effect that when they were filming, everyone was in love with George--even the seagulls flying overhead were screeching, 'George! George! George!'
I liked that movie, mostly because I used to live in Gloucester and know all those people, or many more just like them. Talk about your weird small towns! They got it right, though.
So my latest favorite George Clooney moment is his out-take at the end of Spy Kids 3D. I won't spoil it for anyone, but do try to stay awake long enough to watch it.
And even though it's a nothing, throwaway piece of whimsy, I did see the Oceans Eleven remake a couple times. George as George! Brad Pitt as Steve McQueen! (as if anyone could...)
And O Brother, with George as Clark Gable. Very nice.
End of George rumination. I think about him... rarely. Let's put it succinctly: I don't own any crysau-t with him covering my chest, or holding his autograph.
On other fronts, it's still hot as hell here, maybe even hotter, but my mother-in-law finally, after three years of trying to decide whether or not to do it, has moved here officially. A round of applause for her bravery and fortitude! Hugs to Molly! And great admiration for her foresight in buying a place with air conditioning. No ulterior motive there, people, I swear it.
Also, the minutiae of everyday life prompts me to report that all our appliances that went for a stroll to never-never land in the past week are fixed and working again.
And, payback's a real bitch, I did the Pretentious Meme right back at
sff_corgi.
Speaking of
sff_corgi, she's a fantabulous writer in case you don't know. Read her stuff! Read mine, too, but read hers first.

That's it for now. I reserve the right to come back and babble more later. It's the heat, your honor, I swear.
