shati asked me about some of my icons.

1.
JAMES. Little-known fact: James is the one character I've been tempted to app to milliways_bar more than any other, and for the longest time. He's my favorite in all of Pokémon (sorry, Brock), or at least all of it I could stand to watch, because he's so ridiculous. He even has a ridiculously tragic past and an even more ridiculous story arc, but the very best James-centric episode of all time is Holy Matrimony! which I link for your viewing pleasure (Pokémon BDSM, anyone?). Digression aside, James is my favorite, not just in Team Rocket but in the show. I saw someone cosplaying him at Kumoricon a few years ago and he was so good it frightened me. Stay an anime forever, little James!

Oh, Spike, I loved you always, I love you still. He's so whatever all the time that it's easy to forget he's got a heart of gold buried somewhere. He spends as much time on the run as he does on the hunt, and that duality is just one of the things I love about him. This is my go-to icon for that restless watchful waiting we all have to do sooner or later. Did you notice I have more icons of Spike than of anyone? He's still my favorite (anti)hero.

Baccano! is on crack. That they have an imaginary cartoon sequence describing inevitable impending indescribable danger in a show that already makes no sense is just beautiful. This is Isaac's narration about poor Jacuzzi Splot, if I'm remembering correctly -- it's been a while since I watched -- and involves much TERRIBLE drama and the Rail Tracer. I like to use it when I'm feeling overwhelmed.

Look, it's the other Anders, the one from Dragon Age Origins: Awakening and Dragon Age 2. He's possessed. By the spirit of Justice, and I wish I could say that was metaphorical but it's accurate, and every now and then Justice just gets outraged and shows up to take a stroll in Anders' body. The blue eyes are the dead giveaway. I... might just have a journal for this guy. Just sitting around.

Oh, more Baccano! it's Nice (pronounced "niece") Holystone, Jacuzzi's long-suffering girlfriend. I always think of this as her most Madonna-esque pose. She looks sassy and wise and a little melancholy and she's really pretty darling. It's the anime chick version of "hello, I've waited here for you!" Also, she is entirely badass and hides explosives in the space behind that eye patch [[spoiler alert!!!!]]

Let me set the record straighter. I was born in NYC and lived in Boston, so I feel it's perfectly appropriate to have both. \o/
