So I've been watching Game of Thrones, finally. I tried when it first aired, but I had no clue about who anyone was, what was going on, or why any of it mattered. I couldn't tell a Stark from a Baratheon, but SEAN BEAN so it had to be okay.

But I couldn't follow the story and its cast of thousands. Finally, I broke down and read the book, and now that HBO's rerunning the series, we're watching. Now it all makes sense, and yes, it's a hugely faithful adaptation. But boy, does it help to know what the hell's going on. And who's who. And why they all hate each other so much.

As of now, I have one more episode to go (after this one) to be current with the season. Now, to get my ass reading. I've been picking away at A Clash of Kings, and I wouldn't mind having that done before the next season starts. According to my kindle, I'm only 10% through it, though. It's slow going. I'm thinking there's merit in having to wait a while between these books. Going through them too quickly makes me think maybe it's too much of a good thing.
