So guess what.

On the train trip this weekend, I reread Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

I laughed aloud at a few of the parts and got a little nostalgic at some of the others (mostly at the snowballs enchanted to bash Quirrel's turban repeatedly). It was fun, so next, on to Chamber of Secrets when I'm not killing Darkspawn in Dragon Age (yes, I have a favorite character and you probably know exactly who it is) or writing for [livejournal.com profile] 100wordstories or working on [livejournal.com profile] ineedmyfics or hanging around in-character at [livejournal.com profile] outpost_12 or [livejournal.com profile] milliways_bar.

[livejournal.com profile] hfleming8, I'll wait for you if you want to read along with me.

I thought about this first on the way back from London, after meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] janeylou, finally. But I didn't have any of the books with me, so... now I do. I've slowly started moving my HP fanfic over to Archive of our Own. I started with Black Dog (Sirius and James) and the second one is Adventures in Curse-Breaking (Bill Weasley). I realize it's all the rage these days to write next-gen HP stuff and that this older stuff is looked on a little bit like people look on someone way behind the times: with a little bit of sad indulgent fondness. But I really don't give a shit. I don't see myself writing a lot more HP fanfic, if any, but it doesn't mean I can't appreciate the stuff I've already written.

Sure! Wait for me! I'll grab my copy of Chamber of Secrets tomorrow and we can synchronize our reading for....whenever.

Hope your trip was fun!

That's a good idea for archiving fic...goodness knows I wouldn't want mine to disappear alltogether.

LMAO! YOu got my text!

I heard it and immediately thought of you (as I do whenever I hear Prince) and thought "I bet G really (rilly, rilly) wants to know that I'm listening to that song rightthissecond." :P

Right.

I'm too dorky for words obviously.

I read it at a stop light and didn't have a chance to text you back.

But I understood exactly why you texted it to me!

Okay, began to listen to SS on teh way to and from work today - so I'll be caught up here pretty soon (aka hopefully by the end of the week)! Then I'll be happy to read along with you.

P. S. It always always keels me dead - the chapter where they're leaving Harry at the Dursleys. It always makes me want to jump through the pages and scamper off with him so he knows that not all muggles are like Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon.

I have to say, everything about the Dursleys cracked me up in a way I haven't laughed at them since the first time I read these books. So maybe taking... four or five years off is a good thing?

It's also really different reading them knowing the full story, and on that level it's a first for me. Let me know when you're done with SS and I'll get started on COS.
