In the middle of the desert? I'm afraid that's our best price.

Today, I stood on the San Andreas Fault at the Coachella Valley Preserve. Hello, little chuckwallas!

Then we went to the southern end of Joshua Tree National Park. Hello, you gorgeous jack rabbit! Both places were amazing.

We were back by 11:30 and it was already way too hot. Now, I love the desert. I'm one of those strange people who wouldn't mind living in the desert... but not here. Today's high was a moderate 106; our guide on the tour said it's not uncommon for it to be between 115 and 120 in the summer. That's just too hot for me.

However, I have a lovely tan in the making. It's impossible to avoid.

Tonight we're taking Hannah to see Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. We were also told we must go to In-n-Out Burger, so... we might. But probably not today. Tomorrow. Also on the docket for tomorrow is the obligatory time-share presentation, the desert museum, and maybe the Palm Springs Aerial Tram. We'll see how it goes.

I was told I had to go to Tommy's, and actually got treated one trip by my friend's mother and her gentleman-friend.

The museum sounds interesting - it makes me curious how they've got it arranged.

I'm glad you've got easy access, I like reading your trip 'realtime' (sorta). :)

P.S.

Tuesday's tomorrow for me right now. ^_^ Pretend I'm sending the greetings by parcel post, then.

Isn't Joshua Tree wonderful? I went there a few years ago after one of their few rainy days of the year and the whole place was a blaze of flowers. Really lovely.

Glad you're having a good holiday, and I hope you enjoy the film. I saw it a week or so ago and thought it was a bit meh, but you never know.

I'd always wanted to go there. More's the pity: I'm married to a man who doesn't like the heat (or I'd have moved to Tucson ages ago). But we did all right on this trip, between the room and the pool and the car A/C.

I really wanted to see a roadrunner, but not out in the desert per se. I saw one sneaking around behind an exhibit at the Living Desert museum/zoo, so I was satisfied.

But yeah, I love the desert. I love how beautiful it is.

And as far as the movie went, I liked it. I didn't see the first FF, but this one kind of fit the bill. It had the look and feel of the classic-era FF comic books, so I was good with that.
