Huh.
Sore throat.
I was about to say "that is all." But you know what? That's not all. I had the start of a thing on roleplaying going for myself earlier today, but I never got around to writing it.
But I will. I've had a lot of you comment with things like "I don't RP myself" or "I don't see what's so interesting about roleplaying" or something similar. I was having a discussion with Hannah in the car, which is a fine place for a discussion because radio around here kind of sucks, and she was talking about how she couldn't wait to be 13 so she could play at
milliways_bar. I told her this: I roleplay for one reason: to become a better writer.
It's a little simplistic and sure, there's more than that, but it'll all get out when the words want to get said. For the meantime it's late, I'm tired, and I'm going to call it a night, even with visions of anime dancing in my head. The devil on my shoulder is saying watch right now, you know you want to! but the angel (who today happens to look a lot like Beth) says You're too smart for that. Go. To. Bed. NOW.
50 points to whoever guesses what my shoulder-devil looks like.

It's also about writing with people. When you roleplay, you have to accept different writing styles. Well, you don't have to, but if you don't want a catfight, you certainly should unless you definitely can't help your opinions. (And I've been in RPG's where I hated the type of playing the others wanted to do. Everyone was back from the dead/hadn't left Hogwarts and was in Gryffindor. In another, the only canon characters people wanted to bother with were the trio and Cho - everoyone else? Aliens).
But if it's small things, you have to accept them if you want to maintain a good game, and, possibly, friendships. I think it allows for people to be more open minded, to accept that some people don't see a problem with certain characters or situations.
I'm not saying there should be no discussion. If you have huge problems with a plot idea, that needs to be voiced, or it comes out in the game. However, if you're forced to look at someone elses's ideas... is that a bad thing?
