Akemashite Omedetou Gozaimasu!

Each year, I'll try to learn how to say it in a new language.

I wonder if I'll really have the time, the patience, or the wherewithall to really take conversational Japanese this year. I might. My love affair with languages began a long, long time ago and I've never really gotten over it.

Not that that's either here nor there, nor is it particularly interesting, but what can I tell you? I watched my first Bebop of the new year with [livejournal.com profile] lostinapapercup today; as far as I'm concerned it was a day late. Heh. Time to petition CN to put it back on the rotation.

Our power outage lasted about six hours yesterday. Not too bad, all things considered. I also can't wait to have our house back again. This last month is going to inch by. I'm thinking that we'll have to move out about when Mitch's next business trip is scheduled. If it works out that way, I'll have to stay in the hotel with Hannah, just the two of us. I think I can handle that. Realistically, if it was just the two of us we could bring sleeping bags to work and stay over there. Heh. That'd be something. I'm not so sure I'd like that.

But there is a light at the end of the remodeling tunnel, and then we can slowly reclaim our house, and that will be that, and we'll be poor forever but have a lovely new kitchen.

I could go on a long drawn-out thing right here right now about why Cowboy Bebop is one of the best shows ever to be on television, but I'll bore you all silly. Or at least most of you. So instead, I'll just link to Spike & Beth's latest Venusian adventure for those of you who want to read a sample of my RP writing. Hope you enjoy it. (I suppose I should be polite and tell you there might be spoilers in here for Vertigo Comics' Y, The Last Man Issue #40.)

It's patofthe suposed shouldsand shouldn'ts though. I recognize it most from fando mrather than LJ but livejournal helped that-one further withthe hierarchy and socialcontor letc anyway.
DO you jsut mean political debates or the hwel structureand unwritten rules etc? Its'lie kanythign in life, ther'sso much comign with it that can so easiily go negative.

Political ranting, political debates, all that stuff: I get enough of politics and political talk in my everyday life and I pretty much know what sides of the political fences my friends are on, so I tend not to read any of that stuff when they post it to LJ. I want to know how they're doing, not what they think of the latest political situation. I probably already know that, and snobbish thought it might sound, I want this space to be a sanctuary away from the craziness in the rest of the world.

*shrug*
