I miss the cardinal-birds from the east coast. We don't have them here at all. We have different critters occupying our tree real estate, but there's nothing like those flashes of red to catch your eye and those sweet little chirps.

I was very surprised to see a variety of cardinal in Hawaii. It's like they bypassed the west coast altogether somewhere in the grand scheme of evolution.
