What I Did on my Summer Vacation
I was chatting to
sff_corgi last night and she said she did nothing this weekend. I said the same.
So here's what I really did with my visitors:
Thursday. Went to the airport, picked up friends, brought them back. Met Sandy's most amazing and fun son Matthew (I already know her main squeeze, Grant), then went and got pizza and salad and breadsticks for everyone (the start of the leftovers patrol began there). Since they were all off by three hours, people went to bed fairly early.
Friday. Woke up and went to Starbucks (Grant needs to do this at 10:00 every morning, I found out), then went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. It's a 2-hour ride but the kids did very well. Hannah even loaned Grant her extra gameboy so he didn't feel left out -- Matthew had his own. It was fun listening to the kids compare notes on the Gameboy version of Prisoner of Azkaban. The weather was beautiful on the coast, about 68 degrees and sunny. After the aquarium we went over to Yaquina Head so the kids could play in the tide pools. Then... we left and drove back, and had dinner in.
Saturday. Mitch took Grant for a drive in his hawt sportscah to a bunch of local wineries for some tasting and buying, and Sandy and I took the kids to the giant inflatable slide right near where
cedricsmistress used to work, then took them to Aurora to the petting farm. They fed the goats and sheep and chickens and had ice cream treats and all that, and then went home and picked up the guys. We took the kids to the water park, then stopped and got supplies for dinner. I was at a lot of grocery stores, it seems.
Sunday we went out to brunch, courtesy of our guests. Then Sandy and I took the kids yet again to the giant slide right near where
cedricsmistress used to work, then went to Powell's Books. We came back, went down to the waterfront for dinner and fed the ducks (because I was thinking smart enough to bring the leftover bread sticks). Then we got home and let the kids light a sparkler each... then it was bedtime.
This morning Hannah and I took our guests to the airport, and also Mitch left for 4 days in Chicago. So the house is hot and lovely and quiet, and Hannah and I are back to our lazy selves.
Happy Birthday, Missy! See you tomorrow.
