Author's Night

On Wednesday night at Hannah's school they had Author's Night, where all the kids have a chance to read a story they wrote to their classmates and parents and whoever else comes along. My daughter is such a natural little actress; she has a great deal of fun with this. What a contrast to her mam at that age, when I would get up in front of the class and hope my knees didn't knock audibly! She's such an extrovert.

Her story was unique and humourous and well-received. She volunteered to go first, and did a great job. I'm so proud of her.

I think we've decided to let her stay at the school another year.

And for the next five Fridays, she's taking a clay creation class. I hope it's fun for her. She was signed up for baseball but they didn't get enough kids, so we're doing this instead.

Tribble is at the vet's today getting dental work done. She was so mad at me this morning for putting her into her cat-carrier that she squished all the way into a back corner and wouldn't let me pet her at all. Bah. But on a better note, I successfully got Stones to take his antibiotic pill. Some cats are easier to pill than others.

I'm waiting for a call back from the Director of Education at the massage school. I'd like to meet with her and explore the possibilities for teaching there. Other than that... we be in a lousy mood. That is all.

Oh yeah, and this:

Happy birthday, Mr Shakespeare.

The proprietor of my local independent coffee shop was going to have some sort of Shakespeare quote contest today... you know, name the play, get a free latte.

My suggestion was 'I know a place where the wild soy grows...' (hey, [livejournal.com profile] deborahlive was drinking a soy latte at the time). Now I want to go back and reread Midsummer Night's Dream.

I was lucky enough once to see Gandalf himself--I mean, Sir Ian--on stage at a very small theatre doing Acting Shakespeare. He was phenomenal. Lest this turn into an Ian McKellen fest, I'll quit while I'm ahead and go let Jason Carter read me Ill Met by Moonlight instead.

Everybody Else is Doing It, Why Can't I.

Siamese
You are a Siamese! You are fun-loving, playful,
energetic, talkative, and exotic. You are the
center of attention and you love every minute
of it.

What breed of cat are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

As the proud owner of five Siamese cats, I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome.

Note to everyone: if you want the picture to display, you have to change the image name from http://quizilla.com/user_images/ to http://live.quizilla.com/user_images/ etc. That happens a lot with Quizilla quizzes...

And HEY! For the first time in weeks, I'm having too much fun on our role-play board again. Thank heavens! I thought I was losing my desire to play (aka completely burnt out).

Must be all that writing Draco instead of Sirius. [livejournal.com profile] themorningstarr, that's all because of you. Mister Black beckons.
