Sigh.

The biggest hugs ever to [livejournal.com profile] chrysantza. She knows why.

Thank you so much, Andrea...I still feel like I went against God's will by making the decision to end my kitty's life, but he was suffering. And he hated hospitals - he was such a Momma's boy that he wanted to be around me and his home all the time. He endured a hospital stay earlier in his life and it truamatized him, to the point that when I moved he didn't adjust quickly.

Mom told me that after her first Sheltie died, she kept thinking he was following her around the house for months afterward...

No, you did not. I have seen a cat go into advanced liver failure before, and it was ... oh, sweetie, you did exactly the right thing. And if he was with you at the end, then he went out with the knowledge that he was loved. You didn't abandon him, you were brave for him so he didn't have to be.

And you will see tails out of the corner of your eye, I bet, or find pillows that are indented and that just seem like Aleister Monster was there, not either of the others. Sometimes I hear a deep rumbly purr at night, and I can feel on the bed all the other cats, far enough away that I shouldn't hear them. Although I know it is a trick of acoustics, I still think it is Dumpy coming to pay a visit. And every so often I see Finbarr's tail.

I'll be out tomorrow night but call me on the weekend, K? Let me know if I need to send you the phone again.
