It's Girlfriend Day
Just me and my most amazing daughter for the next four days. Woohoo! We can do all that fun mom-daughter stuff, like staying up late watching movies and eating popcorn, or going to the ridiculously expensive amusement parks, or--horror of horrors--shopping for school clothes at the mall. Hannah has shown a marked and decided preference for Nordstrom, my little snobette. I wonder how old she has to be to get her own credit card there... think they'll issue one to a very intelligent 8-year-old? She's got the rudimentary math skills down; she can sign her name...
On Friday, my sweetheart and I had an actual date. Our sitter was here and as I had no clients because a) it's summer and b) it's almost labor day and c) the kids are all at home this last frantic two weeks of summer... we went out to lunch with plans to go to the Portland Art Museum after. However, lunch took so long (went to a Caribbean place and yeh mon! they move on island time there) that we didn't have time afterwards for culture.
So, we went shopping. Whoever says men don't like to shop hasn't met my dear husband. He loves to shop. So long as it's alone! If I tried to drag him along with me, we'd both get irritated. However, he won the little shopping derby on Friday; he outspent me 2:1. You go, honey! I got me new boots; I'm satisfied.
I'm a shoe-aholic. I could get a new pair every week if Imelda Marcos hadn't already snagged most of them up. But I am good, and weed through the old ones and make room for the new.
On a completely unrelated note, I am highly looking forward to
sff_corgi's visit. Girlfriend time! Adult time! I adore my daughter and husband, don't get me wrong. But getting time away and having The Coolest Woman in Florida (that's her new title) come to visit... now that's an adventure. Watch out, lady. I was very careful when I picked my 'Sirius at Heart' moniker. I look into my gazing crystal and I see all sorts of adventure coming up. All sorts. I'll try to tone down the recklessness so we don't end up like Thelma and Louise, though.
